Metsa Fibre yet again breaks its own boundaries, achieving the prestigious EFQM Excellence Award. The company received widespread recognition with the Outstanding Achievement for Future Focus designation and the EFQM Global Award 2022 7 diamond grade. The EFQM assessors singled out Metsa Fibre for special appreciation due to its remarkable ability to combine its long term vision and plan with its day-to-day operations in the short term.

Sustainable excellence and continuous improvement core principles

The EFQM Excellence model is looked up to by tens and thousands of organisations to evaluate and improve their operation techniques, in both the private as well as the public sectors. The renowned EFQM competition’s objective is to recognise leading organisations that can present credible evidence of their successful plan execution and ongoing operational development. This is for the third time that Metsa Fibre has participated in the global EFQM Excellence Award contest. In 2015, the company made it as one of the finalists. Metsa Fibre improved its performance in 2019 and pulled off the Outstanding Achievement of Sustainability award after achieving the Recognized for Excellence 6 Stars level. Once again this year, the wood-based bioproducts brand celebrated the titles of Outstanding Achievement for Future Focus and the EFQM Global Award 2022 7 Diamonds rating level. Metsa Fibre also received the Finnish Excellence award in 2012.

“We’re happy and proud to have received this award. Following our vision, we want to be our customers’ preferred partner and the most profitable producer of bioproducts that generate sustainable growth. We aim for sustainable excellence through industrial efficiency, long-term customer relationships and new solutions promoting sustainability. We take sustainability into account in all our operations and actively develop sustainable solutions to mitigate climate change and promote the circular economy. The basis for the implementation of the company’s strategy is our personnel’s commitment and know-how – the work we all carry out daily. Examples of our investments in the future are the world’s most modern pine sawmill, which has started up in Rauma, and the new bioproduct mill under construction in Kemi. These investments contribute to the achievement of our strategic objectives,” says CEO of Metsä Fibre, Ismo Nousiainen.
