This year, one can experience the HOMAG Group exhibits in a new hall. As the sole exhibitor in Hall 14, the global market leader is presenting 55 machines live in action.
Every visitor will find his right woodworking solution in Hall 14 – for the small woodworking shop as well as for the large industrial enterprise.
For carpentry businesses, WEINMANN and HOLZMA are exhibiting products for timber house construction, which can be found in Hall 13.
With intelligent solutions from the compact entry-level workshop for craftsmen to the networked workshop in the industrial entry-level range, businesses involved in furniture and construction element manufacturing will be in their element in Hall 14. In the industry segment, the HOMAG Group is exhibiting a batch size 1 plant with plenty of extras — both in terms of machine and plant technology, and in networking.
Future Technology
InnovationCenter – the original
This time, the HOMAG Group is making the InnovationCenter even more prominent. New technologies, with patents pending, and the smart Industry 4.0 applications offer inspiration for the production of furniture parts in the future. Visitors can get a glimpse of technologies that will influence the trends in the furniture industry in the coming years. They can also get an impression of what the future looks like for data and information flows and the potential next steps in networking. And visual surprises await at the end of the InnovationCenter tour, with a 180° cinema that offers an extraordinary insight into the potential production of furniture in a few years’ time — and illustrates this topic for visitors from a rather unusual perspective.
Workshop concepts from small to large
In Hall 14, trade visitors can find clever workshop concepts, from the entry-level workshop to the industrial and networked workshop. Together, the machines represent intelligent solutions; but there are also new technical highlights in the individual machines.
Small entry-level workshop over 80 m²:
Here, the edge banding machine from the Ambition series is the optimum solution for first-time users of zero joint technology. The machine is equipped with the airTec unit and the new PU gluing technology for quick glue and color changes. The HPP 130 panel dividing saw now boasts the new module45, which enables precise miter cuts on the saw itself. These two components are supplemented by an entry-level machine for body press technology and a CNC machine for vertical drilling.
Workshop for the industrial entry-level range:
This has a fully networked saw-storage-nesting cell and drilling and dowel driving machine in operation, with an integrated data flow.
The panel dividing saw has some particular technical highlights – for example the clever “operator assistance system LED”. It indicates the next processing step for the operator and visualizes which parts are for buffering and which part the operator should destack when and how, and from which pallet. The advantages: The machine operator is guided. He works intuitively rarely has to look at the monitor. The cut runs more smoothly, ergonomically and error-free.
A KAL 370 with automated return ensures optimum edge processing with zero joint technology. Here, visitors to LIGNA can marvel at an impressive world first.
Networking/Industry 4.0
Batch size 1 plant: 100 meters with a host of new features
Visitors to the last LIGNA were able to marvel at the HOMAG Group’s fully interlinked and networked plant stretching over 100 meters and now the experts in plant construction are going one step further. The HOMAG Group is continuing to focus on the issue of digitalization in the woodworking industry and is actively driving this forward. To that end, the plant constructors are also increasingly active in research projects — for example, in IUNO, the national reference project for IT security in Industry 4.0. Data backup is becoming more and more important for customers as networking in production grows.
As a result, one of the exhibits in Hall 14 is a batch size 1 plant with plenty of extras — both in machine and plant technology, and in networking. Although the individual machines are not interlinked this time, what is impressive is the networking and the consistency of the data, as well as the technical solutions of the individual components. The high-tech furniture production plant incorporates numerous components that the user currently requires along the process chain (and will continue to do so in the future) to produce customized, top-quality furniture to meet the most stringent standards.
Industry 4.0 at Dürr AG: Leading in production efficiency
In the new film from Dürr AG, the world’s leading manufacturer of machines and systems presents its digital strategy, which is based on four pillars: smart products, smart services, smart factories and smart processes. Dürr has long since embraced the digital age and develops solutions for digitized production under the motto “Leading in production efficiency”. Complete system networking and big data analyses offer customers fresh potential for optimizing efficiency.
The HOMAG Group prioritizes the use of smart products. This enables an end customer, for example, to configure their kitchen individually at the dealership, so that it can be individually produced in batch size 1 on a networked system. The kitchen is ready for installation at the end customer’s premises just a few days later. The smart services from the HOMAG Group guarantee efficient customer support, with 90% of service incidents being resolved online nowadays.
