Raute HQ in Finland is powered by solar energy

 Tuesday, June 29, 2021

Recently Raute invested in solar energy and turned a vision into reality. The roof of the Nastola factory hall offers the perfect spot for a 1000 m2 solar power plant. After a year of operation, today Raute is happy and mentioned “we are really satisfied with the results.”

Electricity generation has been as predicted, even above what we expected! During the year, the power plant has produced 150MWh which is 5.5% of the annual consumption of electricity On the best days, the power plant produces 1/3 of the day’s consumption of electricity.

Despite the heavily snowy winter, the electricity generation period was surprisingly long. Only between November and mid-March the Sun here in the North wasn’t strong enough to beat the darkness.

Raute is focused on creating value in forest assets. We believe in a future where resource-efficient and optimally connected production enables a smarter use of wood. A future where veneer, plywood and LVL are the key materials in building, furniture and packaging, among other applications.
