As the global construction and manufacturing sectors face a critical turning point regarding environmental responsibility, one name is stepping onto the international stage to offer a blueprint for what lies ahead. LUMIN®, the renowned Uruguayan timberlands and forest products specialist, is set to make its debut at the prestigious Carrefour International du Bois, held in Nantes, France, from 2–4 June 2026.
Positioning itself at the forefront of the industry, LUMIN will use stand H2D13 to unveil its vision for the “future of forests.” This appearance is not just a showcase of products; it is a declaration of a sustainable, traceable, and scalable model that responds directly to the tightening environmental regulations and the surging demand for low-carbon building materials across the globe.
LUMIN’s participation at this year’s event arrives at a pivotal juncture. It marks the 20th anniversary of the company’s first exports to the European market, a milestone supported by over three decades of rigorous plantation forestry development in Uruguay. By managing its own sustainably cultivated timberlands, the company maintains complete vertical integration, ensuring full traceability from the initial seedling to the finished panel.
For those attending the show, the LUMIN stand will serve as a living demonstration of these values. The exhibition structure itself will be constructed primarily from the company’s own structural pine panels and its innovative Tropical Replacement Panel (TRP) range. This range, crafted from plantation-grown Eucalyptus grandis, was specifically engineered to serve as a high-performance, environmentally verified alternative to traditional tropical hardwood plywood, offering the consistent quality that modern builders demand.
The timber industry is currently undergoing a period of intense transformation. As traditional sources face increased scrutiny, companies like LUMIN are stepping in to fill the void with reliable, long-term solutions.
John Guerin, Managing Director (Sales) – Europe at LUMIN, believes the industry is at a crossroads. “Global plywood supply is undergoing a fundamental shift. Increasing regulatory pressure and the need for verifiable environmental performance are accelerating the transition away from traditional tropical hardwoods,” Guerin explains.
He continues, “At LUMIN, we have spent decades developing a plantation-based model that delivers both sustainability and industrial reliability at scale. Carrefour International du Bois provides an important opportunity to demonstrate how eucalyptus plywood can meet the structural, environmental and traceability requirements of modern construction and manufacturing markets.”
Beyond current product offerings, the event will provide visitors with an exclusive look at LUMIN’s future growth. The company is currently developing its third industrial mill in Melo, a strategic expansion that promises to significantly boost production capacity. This development is set to play a crucial role in securing long-term, stable supply chains for international partners, further solidifying LUMIN’s footprint in the global market.
For Guerin, the company’s trajectory is a testament to its philosophy: “Our approach is built on long-term thinking – from how we establish and manage our forests through to how we manufacture and supply globally – which is the true ‘future of forests’.”
Attendees at Carrefour International du Bois 2026 are encouraged to visit LUMIN at stand H2 – D13. Whether you are a distributor, a manufacturer, or a professional in the construction trade, the team invites you to explore how plantation-based timber is effectively bridging the gap between ecological stewardship and industrial performance.
