1 TRADE FAIR, 4 LOCATIONS, 25 YEARS: The HOMAG Treff 2018 anniversary event saw a full house in attendance across all four days. For the 25th edition of the industry trade fair, visitors came from a number of countries around the globe, and were impressed by the solutions presented in the Black Forest.
In Holzbronn and Schopfloch, the focus was on workshop concepts for various requirements and performance classes. Also in Schopfloch, the focus this year was on new, digital products for the road to digitization, as well as new highlights and trends for wood processing in trade and industry. There was also plenty on offer for window customers: HOMAG organized the first HOMAG Window Day for window customers from all around the world, covering all information about high-performance window processing. At the production site in Horb am Neckar, HOMAG presented plant technology for furniture production. HOMAG also integrated the new Surface CompetenceCenter in Herrenbe
rg into HOMAG Treff for the first time (in collaboration with IVM Chemicals).
Visitors from China through Scandinavia to the USA
Visitors from all over the world celebrated the 25th birthday of the industry’s largest in-house trade fair. In addition to customers and prospective customers from the DACH region, a number of visitors also attended from countries including China, USA, Russia, Thailand, Japan and Norway, as well as countries from Eastern Europe and Central Europe. Colleagues from the sales companies and sales partners were also a decisive factor in this success, some of whom traveled to the Black Forest with large visitor groups of up to 60 people.
The order intake included orders from small to large – more than half of the orders comprise single machines and cells for small and medium sized companies. Further orders include highly automated solutions and systems for batch size 1 and series production.

Fully networked system in Freudenstadt: tours of Erfi GmbH
During the trade fair, the experts from HOMAG Systems took advantage of an extraordinary opportunity to show a networked system live in action: groups of visitors were invited to tour the company Erfi in Freudenstadt. The company produces technical workstation systems for the electrical engineering area. To meet the growing requirements of the market, a high-quality, automated batch size 1 system from HOMAG has recently been introduced into the production.
The software plays a key role in ensuring that the networked production is successful. This flexible design of the production process is organized by the HOMAG manufacturing execution system ControllerMES. ControllerMES controls the order of the jobs to be processed and communicates with the different machines to forward jobs and specific production specifications.
The ecosystem tapio offers a further option for supporting production digitally. tapio is the first digital platform worldwide designed especially for the wood industry. It combines expertise from machine construction, service, software, and consulting for businesses of all sizes worldwide. Machine data obtained in production can be stored securely in the cloud so that it can be accessed at anytime from anywhere. The digital platform completes the networked system concept. Interacting with technology and software, the recently installed system showed HOMAG Treff visitors how it can exercise its full power.
Edition25: HOMAG celebrated with over 25 special models
For the last 25 years, thousands of visitors have traveled to Germany’s Black Forest in the fall. And for that, HOMAG wants to say “thank you”: with more than 25 machines with impressive prices, equipment, and service. The promotion Edition25 has already started and runs until 12/31/2018.
More future: All Edition25 models are fully digitalized and tapio-ready*. Helpful apps such as MachineBoard (5 years) are already included, so the user has the near-unlimited performance of our cloud-based software solutions to increase machine availability.

First HOMAG Window Day with an excellent response
A special highlight of the HOMAG Treff was the first window day, covering all information about high-performance window processing. Representatives from more than 80 window companies traveled to Schopfloch for the window day, learning all about window production and current trends in presentations and workshops.

Exchange with experts: Workshops and the woodWOP user meeting
For the first time, HOMAG had prepared practical workshops dealing with current topics especially for visitors to HOMAG Treff. All workshops were fully booked. The annual woodWOP user meeting also took place. The topic this year was “All new features of woodWOP 7.1 and Industry 4.0 in practice”. With around 50 participants, this event was also fully booked.
HOMAG Cares: € 8.000 for a good cause
Sample parts for a good cause: funny measuring rods for children in a giraffe design, football tables, fruit bowls, children’s wardrobes, shoe shelving, and bistro tables — these parts were produced live in the machine demonstrations at the HOMAG Treff and then sold to visitors. Under the initiative HOMAG Cares, a total revenue of € 6.000 was achieved – and this amount was increased by HOMAG to € 8.000 and will be donatet to a social institution.
In a few weeks, the donation will be handed over to the organizations Lebenshilfe Horb-Sulz e.V. (near Schopfloch) and Lebenshilfe Calw e.V. (near Holzbronn). Thanks to the charity Lebenshilfe, participants both with and without disabilities have come to together to:
• Help people with disabilities lead their lives the way they want to
• Share ideas with one another and benefit from each other’s experiences
• Enable you, your children, and your loved ones to succeed
For the HOMAG Group, social commitment is a key part of the corporate culture. Hence, the HOMAG Cares initiative has been a feature at trade fairs and events all around the world for many years, with a constant focus on supporting charitable groups.
