Surteco showcases current trends at interzum

 Wednesday, May 31, 2017

Untitled-1 copyWhat are the current trends – what’s in store, what’s set to stay? Answers to these questions are provided by the trend statement with the title “One in Motion” from the design specialists at Surteco Decor. Every second year, the team centered around head designer Heike Schlosser publishes a prognosis developed on an inter-department basis in the company and which serves as a determining factor for the development of new decors.

At the core of the latest trend statement is the awareness that the “self” draws inspiration from three trend characteristics which Surteco describes using the terms “smart”, “balance” and “liberté”. No sharp lines separate these characteristics. Rather, together, they comprise a common whole from which further individual interpretations can emerge. “The new media world is marked by speed and constant availability,” explains Heike Schlosser.

“This influences the decision-making and identification of each individual. People draw on what is already there and create temporary worlds of their own; the “self” is on the move, “One in Motion”. However, any trend is always accompanied by a counter trend. On the one hand they see a type of interior that reflects the rapid technical progress of the modern world, while on the other hand perceiving the longing for a natural environment. The new element is the fact that these two poles are not mutually exclusive rather correspond with one another. The third current follows the call for freedom and creates a striking impression with exciting colours and a mix of styles.”

Untitled- 2copy“smart” trend: connected, intelligent, pulsating.

“Smart“ is the trend that reflects our modern world. The “always-on” attitude to life creates the impression of being part of the future. A major role is played by technical innovations and connectivity. In this style of interior we find sensory surfaces, intelligent textures and reflective effects. It is very simple yet full of inspiration. The trend decor “Strabo” shows a simple but elegant volcanic stone with sophisticated glitter effect.

“balance” trend: nature-loving, mellow, balanced

Fine wood and natural materials set the tone in the world of “balance“. Here the self is grounded by its longing for peace, flow and relaxation and for materials that pamper the senses. The feelgood character is underlined by powdery shades and imaginative decors. The new trend decor “Tibidabo” picks up on the lifestyle of equilibrium: naturally-balanced characteristics with a light white patina create both mellowness and freshness.

surteco“liberté” trend: the classic meets street culture

“Liberté”: That is the look of freedom! You see and sense the feeling of a pulsating street culture that knows no bounds. Culture meets tradition, yesterday melts into today, luxury encounters street art. Here the self lives out its individuality and feelings. In this style world, filigree materials mix with exotic patterns and exciting colours; we see patchwork and layering. This is perfectly matched by the trend decor “Sinope Marble” a lively marble with depth effect.

‘Red Dot Award’ for Surteco in April

Surteco witnessed a great excitement in April as they bagged Red Dot Award: The “Co-Equal Edition” has now been distinguished with the coveted Red Dot Award for product design. With this award, a jury of international experts pays tribute to the high design quality of the decors submitted.

Interplay of impressions – the Co-Equal Edition

The Co-Equal Edition comprises the three cylinders prints “Aquino”, “Millart” and “Alegre”. These have been blended with existing decors originating in the various worlds. For example, the traditional herringbone enters into a liaison with marble, Portuguese tiles with wood appearance, ethno look with concrete structures. The result is a range of completely new aspects, combining the apparently impossible – an interplay of impressions. Innumerable combination options open up diverse perspectives for individual requirements, as the three embossing cylinders of the “Co-Equal Edition” can be combined with almost all the decors to new, exciting patterns. From the technological perspective too, the Co-Equal Edition is groundbreaking: Digital and analogue printing processes are deployed in parallel and compose a concerted overall view.

With concentrated innovative power, the surface specialists from Surteco Decor, BauschLinnemann and Dakor are in the starting blocks. The new products for furniture, flooring and doors make a convincing impact with special technological and sensory features. And on the digital system installed at the Sassenberg site at the beginning of the year, possibilities emerges for redefining standards for the future.

Sedatecs makes doors tangibly beautiful

“Seda” is the Spanish word for “silk”. The product name Sedatecs alludes to the unique properties of this natural material: Silk is not only soft and pleasant to the touch, but also extremely robust and hardwearing. Thanks to its innovative multi-layer lacquer composition, the Sedatecs foil developed specially for the door industry is ideally suited to wide-area, particularly brilliant-white door leaf coatingand for covering door frames. Sedatecs also scores with regard to scratch-proofing, anti-fingerprint finish and surface smoothness. In terms of colour, Sedatecs follows the trend for a brilliant white while the foil is also available in beige and light grey shades; further plain colours on request.

Lineatecs: Laminate with the features of LVT

LVT showed us how: Modern floors need to be warm, soft and almost silent. In order to meet these demands, Dakor has developed a new foil which transfers the features of LVT to laminate. The product with the name “Lineatecs” offers a decisive advantage for hard flooring manufacturers: It can be processed in-house on existing coating systems. Lineatecs is paper-based which means that customers can use existing decors. In addition, it is free of PVC and phthalates and permits deep press plate structures.
