SCA Logistics opens a new logistic facility in the Port of Tilbury on January 22, 2022 for advancing business purposes. In order to offer impressive support and service the company employed capable storage and agency staff. As a result, SCA’s terminal in Sheerness will be closed soon, and the goal here is to maintain a high level of service while improving the distribution process.
In mid-January, the first SCA RoRo vessel leaving from Sweden could call at Tilbury since the port has been working on integrating SCA’s digital information flow. Steve Harley, former managing director of SCA Logistics’ UK terminal, states, “While moving a complex operation from one location to another is a challenge, we managed to be ready in time and according to plan.”
The opening of SCA Logistics in Tilbury Port hasn’t been considered as something new. It had first established a terminal in the port in 1967. The operation, however, moved to Sheerness in 2015, which lies downstream on the Thames and adjacent to the North Sea. Seven years later, it returned to Tilbury. Steve Harley further explains that the 20 nauticalRev that are added and the lock that must be navigated to reach Tilbury are made up for by reducing distances by land to customers and improving access by road.
He further goes on to explain that Tilbury is considered closer to the M25, the main road connecting England’s motorway network. He also expresses scope and opportunities to collaborate with new customers.
SCA logistics is a prominent brand in the wood products domain. It supplies products for the industry, for industrialised building and for domestic purposes. The new terminal is expected to improve services by accelerating performance efficiency and work control.In furture it is expected that the product distribution will improve with the all new facility.
