Unlock new surface finishing possibilities with KLEIBERIT HotCoating and Roll-to-Roll Technology

KLEIBERIT HotCoating® and Roll-to-Roll Technology_LIGNA

The revolutionary impact of KLEIBERIT‘s HotCoating technology on surface finishing has been evident across a wide range of applications for years. From the furniture and flooring industries to outdoor applications such as facades, decking, and outdoor furniture, HotCoating has successfully established itself worldwide.

The unparalleled properties of PUR-based coatings, including exceptional scratch, UV, and climate resistance, combined with remarkable visual effects in high-gloss and super-matte finishes, have won over many customers. In particular, the synergy with digital printing techniques provides product and interior designers with a wealth of creative possibilities. These advancements meet high aesthetic demands while simultaneously introducing new, sustainable product qualities.

Earlier in 2024, KLEIBERIT showcased a significant step toward environmental protection and resource conservation by presenting its new PUR HotCoating products containing over 50% bio-based, renewable raw materials. These formulations replace fossil resources while maintaining outstanding performance. Moreover, all product variants are available exclusively in micro-emission (ME) quality, eliminating the need for hazardous substance labeling.

The evolution from surface finishing on flat panels to flexible, diverse roll materials has unlocked entirely new market opportunities, particularly for profile wrapping in both indoor and outdoor applications. The option to add surface textures using embossing rollers, combined with the remarkable adhesion properties of PUR coatings, provides a significant advantage. At LIGNA 2025, KLEIBERIT unveils another groundbreaking innovation: a world-first roll-to-roll system capable of coating sheet materials with thicknesses up to 12 mm. This high-performance industrial machine, with a working width of up to 1600 mm, achieves processing speeds of up to 60 meters per minute.

Live at the exhibition, visitors are witnessing the coating of flooring materials produced by Swiss HotCoating user LICO, using recycled leather scraps from industrial waste streams. The resulting sustainable flooring product consists of approximately 55% leather fibers, 25% natural rubber as a binder, 10% water, and 10% plant-based oils. The same 1600 mm HotCoating system can also be used for paper or thermoplastic films, opening new possibilities for cladding large-format, three-dimensional elements such as door panels. Enhanced properties for immediate processing make this innovative process even more attractive and cost-efficient. Discover more at the KLEIBERIT booth at LIGNA 2025.
