Stora Enso creates an original, 3D interior shop environment that is curated entirely of biocomposites and is climate-smart. The client’s desire to use new materials and make sustainable decisions for their products and places is reflected in this idea. In addition to being circular and sustainable, biocomposites are changing design and production because they allow for the replacement of conventional materials and give designers additional possibilities, resulting in more design flexibility.
Biomaterials are key to decarbonizing interior production and moving away from a wasteful economy. At the same time, they open new horizons for architects and designers to create beautiful and performative environments.
Stora Enso produced pieces for a store design that effectively promotes the client’s brand while emphasising a wide range of products in an aesthetically pleasing way. From getting the design designs to producing over 500 modules utilising 3D printing, the production process took about 6 weeks. As a result, extraordinary shapes and designs were created that were previously unachievable by traditional furniture-making. The counters have an organic shape that provides durability and style without sacrificing sustainability. The client stated that now more than ever, we must do our bit for the environment and this store offers us the ability to easily explore new in-store initiatives and low-carbon store designs. Stora Enso is committed to reducing the environmental impact and is constantly exploring new initiatives all the time.
Change of leadership
In another move, Stora Enso also followed a change of leadership recently. Minna Bjorkman is appointed as the new head sourcing and logistics and a member of the group leadership team, beginning January 2023. As Senior Vice President of the Supply Chain and Operational Excellence for Packaging Solutions at Stora Enso, Minna Björkman joined the company in 2019. She held a number of senior level jobs before joining Stora Enso at Finnish corporations like Nokia, Fazer, and Kemira. With a Master’s in Economics and Business Administration, Minna has more than 25 years of experience in international supply chains, logistics, and sourcing.
