The global woodworking and furniture production sectors converged once again in Istanbul for the 38th iteration of the International Wood Processing Machines, Cutting Tools, and Hand Tools Fair, widely recognised as WoodTech 2025. Held from October 11–15, 2025, at the Tüyap Fair and Congress Center, the event firmly cemented Istanbul’s position as a critical hub for industrial trade and wood processing technology across Eurasia.
The sheer scale of the fair underscored the dynamism of the industry, drawing over 25,000 trade professionals. Crucially, the fair attracted approximately 4,000 international visitors from a diverse array of global markets, establishing invaluable cross-border connections. More than 275 exhibiting companies and their representatives showcased a staggering array of over 1,000 woodworking machines and technologies. This concentrated display of innovation offered visitors a firsthand look at the sophisticated, high-precision tools and systems that are shaping the future of manufacturing, from advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) routers to fully automated, smart production lines.
The robust trade activity during the five-day event is expected to generate a business volume exceeding USD 100 million, providing a significant boost to both the regional and global woodworking economies.
Organised by RX Tüyap in collaboration with the Turkish Woodworking Machinery Industrialist Association (AİMSAD) and backed by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Trade and the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (EUMABOIS), WoodTech is a crucial platform for Türkiye’s export ambitions.
Berkan Öner, General Manager of RX Tüyap, emphasized the organisation’s role as a vital catalyst for the nation’s key industries. “Through our platforms, including WoodTech and the co-located Intermob, we create a powerful ecosystem that unites manufacturers, suppliers, designers, and brands,” said Öner. “This collaboration is essential for fostering innovation across the entire value chain. By continually providing services that meet global standards, we reinforce Istanbul’s and Türkiye’s prominence in international trade.”
This commitment to fostering international exposure is directly linked to the country’s economic resilience. Öner noted that consistent export performance is fundamental to Türkiye’s stable economic trajectory, making events like WoodTech vital showcases where local manufacturers can present their newest innovations directly to influential international buyers. The fair serves as a strategic gateway for Turkish companies to expand their footprint in new markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Turkic Republics.
The Turkish woodworking machinery sector arrived at WoodTech 2025 with a major achievement under its belt: maintaining a foreign trade surplus for eight consecutive years. This remarkable streak, highlighted by Arif Onur Kaçak, Board Member and Secretary General of AİMSAD, is a testament to the sector’s quality, competitiveness, and export focus.
“The European Union remains a high-value export market for us, and this year, demand from countries like Spain has seen notable growth,” Kaçak observed. He is confident that WoodTech 2025 will be a primary driver for the industry’s export performance in the second half of the year.
The technology showcased at the fair reflects a profound shift towards the future of manufacturing, aligning Turkish production with global Industry 4.0 trends. Visitors were specifically invited to explore advanced exhibits featuring smart production lines and AI-based woodworking machinery.
The innovations at WoodTech highlighted the industry’s rapid embrace of digital transformation, moving beyond traditional methods to leverage the power of automation and artificial intelligence.
1. AI and Smart Production: Exhibitors displayed machinery where Artificial Intelligence is integrated to optimize processes. This includes AI-powered systems for real-time quality control and defect detection (identifying flaws invisible to the human eye), material optimisation to minimise waste, and predictive maintenance to reduce costly machine downtime. These features not only enhance the quality of finished wood products but also significantly reduce operating costs.
2. Next-Generation CNC Technology: The rise of high-performance CNC machining centers was a major theme. These next-generation machines offer unparalleled precision, speed, and versatility, enabling complex routing, drilling, and cutting operations required for highly customised furniture and architectural elements. The integration of IoT (Internet of Things) functionality means these machines can seamlessly connect, share data, and self-optimise within a fully networked, smart factory environment.
3. Sustainability and Efficiency: The industry’s focus on sustainability was evident through displays of energy-efficient equipment, advanced dust collection and filtration systems, and solutions that maximize the use of raw timber. Smart production lines allow for optimised cutting patterns, helping manufacturers reduce wood waste and contribute to more eco-conscious production practices.
By bringing together global technology, a powerful array of industry professionals, and the robust export capacity of the Turkish market, WoodTech Istanbul 2025 has once again proven its indispensable role in steering the international woodworking and furniture production sectors toward a more intelligent, efficient, and profitable future.
