Siempelkamp

Despite the pandemic panic, Siempelkamp has witnessed business expansion and success in 2021. In the same year Siempelkamp had 15 plants accepted worldwide, most of the projects for customers in the wood-based materials industry. This extraordinarily high number in times of the ongoing pandemic situation is a special achievement that is based on a lot of flexibility, the intensive exchange with plant operators and the well-used opportunities of remote services.

The acceptances in North America with five and in China with three completed projects set regional priorities. Two more systems were accepted in Turkey, one each in Thailand, Vietnam, India, Russia and Brazil.

The 2021 acceptances clearly reflect Siempelkamp’s positioning in the wood-based materials industry – 14 plants benefit this market, another one the composites industry. In the Asian market, the focus was on systems for MDF production, while other projects for chipboard or OSB production were implemented. In North America and Brazil, a short-cycle press system was accepted, as well as a multi-opening system for OSB production in North America. All other systems for the wood-based materials industry that will be accepted in 2021 will produce according to the ContiRoll Ò concept.

15 acceptances from customers worldwide meant a special achievement in the exceptional year 2021: “The ongoing pandemic situation with the associated travel restrictions and quarantine conditions was ambitious. In addition, the workload of the projects has shifted from 2020 to 2021 due to the corona-related interruptions on customer construction sites; The same applies to the seven commissionings that we carried out in 2021,” says Egbert Schulte, who, as Head of Project Management, External Assembly and Logistics at Siempelkamp, and his team had to take many special framework conditions into account. It was also important here that personal coordination with plant operators on site could not take place as intensively as usual due to the special situation in 2021. Nine of the accepted plants produce at regular Siempelkamp customers.
