Leading vacuum automation expert J. Schmalz GmbH is spotlighting its latest innovations in automated lifting, fixing, and manual handling of wood-based materials at LIGNA 2025, the premier global trade fair for the woodworking industry.

Renowned for its cutting-edge vacuum technology and ergonomic handling systems, Schmalz from Glatten, Germany, offers solutions spanning sectors such as logistics, automotive, electronics, and furniture manufacturing. At LIGNA 2025, the company is emphasizing products that optimize processes and enhance operator ergonomics, especially for CNC woodworking applications.

Schmalz’s vacuum clamping devices promise precise, flexible, and safe fixation of wood panels, enabling machining on five sides without retooling. Their innovative VCBL-R and VCBL-N block suction cups offer a versatile 2-in-1 solution for nesting and grid tables, combining tool-free changeover with membrane technology that protects sensitive surfaces while ensuring reliable hold.

To meet the rising demand for customized furniture and wood components, Schmalz introduces its AI-supported Solution Kit. Integrating vacuum gripping systems with 3D cameras and intelligent software, this system detects and handles unknown wood workpieces with precision—streamlining production from single units to mass series without manual programming.

Sustainability is also a key focus. The FA-X/FA-M flat-surface gripping systems deliver 86% more suction force than comparable models while reducing compressed air use by 80%. Their compact design, energy efficiency, and adaptable gripping capabilities enhance sustainable production and minimize operating costs.

On the manual handling front, Schmalz’s vacuum lifters and crane systems are recognized for their ergonomic benefits. Notably, the VacuMaster Wood lifter handles wood panels and beams up to five meters long and 250 kilograms in weight, easing operator strain. The JumboErgo vacuum tube lifter facilitates quick, sensitive movement of heavy flat workpieces with a unique throttle-style control handle.

Schmalz’s comprehensive lineup at LIGNA 2025 reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and ergonomic design—empowering the woodworking industry to meet growing market demands with efficiency and care.

For woodworking manufacturers and suppliers aiming to optimize operations and embrace smart automation, Schmalz’s solutions at LIGNA 2025 represent key advancements in the future of wood handling.
