The inaugural Saudi Wood Expo, officially opened on September 2 by Mr. Hassan AlHwaizy, President of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce, brought together over 170 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, showcasing over 3,500 innovative products and services. The event attracted an impressive turnout of over 8,200 buyers and specifiers, including prominent professionals from the contracting, architecture, interior design, and furniture manufacturing sectors.
Highlights of the expo included the dynamic “Hala Chats” series, led by top industry exhibitors, and the Wood Artisans Zone, which celebrated Saudi craftsmanship with a display of expertly crafted wood products.
Hala Chats and Business Strategy Insights
The “Hala Chats” featured insightful sessions led by key exhibitors, exploring innovations and sustainability within the wood industry. Topics covered included luxury free-form timber construction, digital manufacturing and automation, and advancements in timber construction supporting the green economy. Attendees gained valuable insights into optimising efficiency, adopting cutting-edge technologies, and navigating the evolving landscape of modern woodworking in Saudi Arabia.
Wood Artisans Zone Celebrates Traditional and Modern Craftsmanship
The Wood Artisans Zone hosted four skilled Saudi wood artists, providing live showcases that highlighted the beauty and skill of handcrafted wood art. Visitors were captivated by the artisans’ mastery as they demonstrated a variety of traditional techniques, from intricate carvings to modern woodturning. Each piece reflected Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage of woodworking while embracing contemporary designs. The interactive zone allowed attendees not only to admire the craftsmanship but also to engage with the artists, gaining insights into their processes and inspirations.
“Wood U Do It?” Challenge
Visitors were invited to take part in the interactive “Wood U Do It?” challenge, where they could demonstrate their drilling skills, precision, and speed for a chance to win an impressive prize. This engaging activity drew enthusiastic participation, offering attendees a fun, hands-on experience and an opportunity to showcase their skills.
The Saudi Wood Expo is set to return from September 1–3 2025 at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Centre, promising even more opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate the woodworking industry.
