Resource-efficiency now advances with Kerto LVL

Considering the growing scarcity of raw material for the wood industry, Kerto LVL has brought new range of sustainable veneer for the industry and made alternative use of wood in the market. The classical technique of construction is also been taken into consideration. To promote environmentally friendly products Kerto LVL has introduced laminated veneer lumber. The forestry and cutting process of Metsä wood is also moving towards the sustainable.

Metsä Wood aims to be the global forerunner in sustainable construction through its innovative wood products, resource efficiency across the value chain and effective use of renewable material. Kerto LVL from Metsä Wood is very light in weight. The smart design of the adhered laminated veneer enables the implementation of high-performance wood and hybrid structure.

The products lead to efficient prefabrication. Material efficiency is very important in case of the product management. The products are highly durable with low deformation. The smart design of the veneer makes the products usable and versatile.  

Kerto LVL is available in different classes. The product may be used for beams, planks, or panels in a wide variety of construction projects. Special pre designing can be obtained. The most optimal cross-section for the structure of the project can be obtained.

The resource efficient Kerto LVL is created from 3 mm thick rotary-peeled strength graded softwood veneers. The veneers are bonded with the weather and boil resistant phenol. There are various varieties of thickness available for the products. The three types of the thicknesses available are 2.5 metres and length of up to 20 metres. Another one is available with 1.8 metre-wide panel and corresponding length would be 25 metres.

The logs that will be used for production of Kerto LVL are generally spruce that comes from sustainably managed and certified northern forests. The veneers are bonded with weather- and boil-resistant phenol formaldehyde adhesive that forms a continuous billet.

The company Metsä Wood aims to be the forerunner for the sustainability in the woodworking industry. The product also ensures that up to 1,000 square metres can be installed per day. The innovativeness and resource management is very much necessary for maintain the value chain and create renewable material management.
