Titus UK has announced the appointment of Phil O’Malley as its new Business Development Manager. With four decades of experience in the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom (KBB) industry, O’Malley brings a wealth of knowledge from both retail and manufacturing sectors, strengthening the company’s UK team.
O’Malley’s career in the KBB industry began 40 years ago in a kitchen planning and surveying role, where he focused on check measuring and re-engineering layouts to ensure functional designs. This early experience laid the foundation for a long and successful career in the sector.
“I started in the kitchen industry 40 years ago in a kitchen planning and surveying role,” O’Malley shares. “My initial role focused on check measuring and re-engineering layouts to ensure functional designs, providing a solid foundation for my future in the industry.”
Throughout his career, O’Malley has held customer-facing roles, which he finds particularly rewarding. “I’ve always been in customer-facing roles, and I find it interesting how people’s personalities differ,” he reflects. “This understanding has been invaluable in sales roles, where engagement and exceeding expectations are important.”
His career has been diverse, with significant experience in both the retail and B2B sides of the industry. “I worked for a kitchen company who focused on the new housing sector. Designing to architect’s plans and check measuring on a building site, working to ‘call off’ build schedules, brought further experience of the industry,” he explains. After managing showrooms and overseeing marketing activities, O’Malley transitioned to B2B operations in 1998. He spent nearly 25 years in a role similar to his current one at Titus, where he progressed from regional sales to managing national accounts and leading teams.
What attracted O’Malley to Titus? “The focus on producing innovative and functional solutions that are simple in concept but cost-effective is refreshing,” he says. “The term ‘engineered for purpose’ is very true and particularly relevant to the UK now and always.”
As Business Development Manager, O’Malley’s key objectives are to expand Titus’ presence in the KBB industry and beyond. “The main goal is to expand and grow our business with a broader customer base across the KBB industry and associated sectors; to build on the strong brand we have and gain ground with new product solutions that mean a stronger and more prominent footprint for the operation,” he outlines.
O’Malley brings not only experience in product development and market trends but also a deep understanding of the relationships within the KBB industry. “I bring a wealth of industry knowledge, including an understanding of product development processes, an interest in KBB trends, and the ongoing functional innovations that companies like Titus are at the forefront of,” he adds. “I’m familiar with many of the industry’s businesses and people working within it, and I have a strong understanding of how the market works and what manufacturers need and expect from a supplier.”
O’Malley also offers keen insights into industry trends. “Our industry continues to evolve due to the never-ending thirst for improvement by technical component engineers and furniture developers alike. Often these work in tandem to achieve the right solutions, but always, the result is enabling more functionality and better use of storage. The consumer ultimately benefits as their new kitchen, bedroom, or bathroom is now a sophisticated and luxurious environment.”
Looking ahead, O’Malley is excited to further immerse himself in Titus’ UK operations and broader network. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the Titus team here in the UK, but also the wider network at its production headquarters and subsidiaries too. There’s a lot of product information to learn because we have a lot of great products, but I’m confident this will be an enjoyable part of the role,” he says. “Ultimately, we are in the business of supplying these products to the industry, and so helping customers old and new source the right solution, and save costs wherever possible, is the goal and ambition. Bring it on.”
O’Malley’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Titus, as the company continues to expand its product range and solidify its presence in the UK market. His extensive expertise in both retail and manufacturing will be instrumental in helping the company meet the evolving needs of its customers.
Titus UK is excited to welcome O’Malley to the team, confident that his leadership and industry knowledge will continue to drive growth and innovation within the company.
