Munksjö showcases Chromatic Joy Concept and advanced decor paper solutions at Formóbile 2026

June 23, 2026

Munksjö is set to strengthen its presence in the global decor paper sector by presenting its Chromatic Joy concept at Formóbile 2026. The initiative will place colour, materials and surface design at the centre of discussions surrounding the future of interior environments and laminate applications.

The company’s participation goes beyond a traditional product exhibition. Instead, it aims to create an immersive experience that encourages architects, designers, manufacturers and industry professionals to explore how colour influences the perception and functionality of spaces.

The concept reflects growing interest in emotional design. It also addresses the increasing role of materials in shaping user experiences. Modern interiors are no longer defined solely by functionality. Emotional connection is becoming equally important.

At the exhibition, visitors will be invited to participate in an interactive colour experience. Specially developed micro-architecture elements will enable attendees to create their own colour combinations and visual compositions.

The experience has been designed to promote experimentation. New design possibilities will be explored. Participants will be encouraged to move beyond conventional colour choices and discover how different combinations can alter the atmosphere of a space.

Personalised creations will be captured at the end of the activity. A customised souvenir will then be provided to participants as a lasting reminder of the experience.

The Chromatic Joy concept focuses on the positive emotional impact of colour. It examines how carefully selected shades can enhance comfort, stimulate creativity and strengthen personal connections within living and working environments.

Alongside the interactive installation, Munksjö will present several decor paper collections developed to meet current market requirements. The displays will combine design trends, technical expertise and practical applications for the laminate surfaces industry.

One of the featured collections is The Essentials. Developed specifically for Latin American markets, the range includes 63 solid colour options for decor paper applications. The collection has been tailored for use in high-pressure laminate (HPL), continuous pressure laminate (CPL) and low-pressure laminate (LPL) manufacturing processes.

To simplify specification and colour selection, the collection has been organised into two distinct categories. The Neutrals range features classic shades such as white, beige and grey. The Intense range introduces more expressive colours, including blue, green, red and orange tones.

The objective is to provide manufacturers and designers with a practical reference tool. Regional market preferences have also been considered throughout the development process.

Visitors will also be introduced to DENSITY, Munksjö’s Solid Colour Decor Paper Trend Collection for 2026. The collection features 14 carefully selected colours divided into two complementary families known as HIGH DENSITY and LOW DENSITY.

The HIGH DENSITY palette focuses on deeper shades inspired by natural environments. These colours are intended to create interiors that feel stable, comfortable and grounded. Nature remains a major influence in contemporary design.

In contrast, LOW DENSITY offers lighter and brighter tones. Inspiration has been drawn from technology, transparency and innovative materials. These colours reflect the growing demand for openness, well-being and adaptable living spaces.

Together, the two palettes represent key themes currently shaping interior design. Consumers are increasingly seeking authenticity. Material expression matters more than ever. Balance between natural warmth and modern lightness is also becoming a defining trend.

These movements have been widely observed across leading international design exhibitions, including recent showcases presented during Milan Design Week.

Beyond colour-focused collections, Munksjö will highlight several specialised surface technologies. Among the key attractions is the company’s collaboration involving Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier®.

As the only certified licence holder within the decor paper sector, Munksjö offers access to the celebrated Architectural Polychromy colour system developed by Le Corbusier. The collection enables architects and manufacturers to incorporate historically significant colour palettes into contemporary laminate surface applications.

Additional solutions will also be showcased. These include decor papers for compact HPL products used in both interior and exterior environments. Pre-impregnated papers for finish foil applications will be displayed as well. Various technologies combining aesthetics and technical performance will be presented throughout the exhibition.

Knowledge sharing will form another important element of Munksjö’s participation. Ana Maria Plata, Head of Colours and Design, will deliver a presentation titled “Shaping Design Through Material, Colour and Soul” on the Formóbile Stage.

The session will examine emerging design trends, consumer behaviour patterns and evolving lifestyle preferences observed across major international events. The relationship between materials, aesthetics and user expectations will be explored in detail.

According to Plata, surfaces are becoming increasingly influential in shaping how people experience built environments. Understanding changes in colour preferences, materials and behaviours enables the development of solutions that create stronger and longer-lasting connections with users.

Formóbile 2026 also carries strategic importance for Munksjö’s Brazilian operations. The event marks the company’s first participation following the modernisation of the PM7 production line at its Caieiras facility.

The investment represents Munksjö’s most significant commitment in Brazil to date. It reinforces the importance of the country within the company’s global decor paper strategy. It also demonstrates continued support for customers throughout Latin America.

By combining design innovation, technical expertise and market-focused solutions, Munksjö aims to strengthen its position within the furniture, laminate and surface materials industries while advancing the role of colour in contemporary design.
