From May 26 to 30, 2025, the global woodworking community will gather at LIGNA, the world’s foremost trade fair for woodworking and wood processing, celebrating its 50th anniversary. Launched in 1975, originally spun off from the renowned HANNOVER MESSE amidst the global oil crisis, LIGNA has grown to become an essential global platform showcasing innovations across the entire wood value chain.
In its landmark year, LIGNA will host 1,433 exhibitors from 49 countries, surpassing previous editions despite challenging market conditions. Covering an impressive area of 113,923 square meters across ten exhibition halls, two pavilions, and expansive outdoor spaces, the event highlights the industry’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

This edition places special emphasis on digital transformation, resource efficiency, and sustainability, positioning the wood industry at the forefront of technological advancements. Showcased innovations include fully automated and digitally integrated manufacturing processes, advanced artificial intelligence applications, and resource-saving solutions aimed at reducing environmental impact and boosting efficiency.

Connectivity, Sustainable Production, and Engineered Wood
The event’s organizers, Deutsche Messe AG and VDMA Woodworking Machinery Association, have structured LIGNA’s agenda around three critical pillars: Connectivity, Sustainable Production, and Engineered Wood.
