i4F, the flooring industry’s patent and technology provider, recently announced the launch of AquaProtect technology, a patented solution created by its IP partner CLASSEN. With its high precision and resource-efficient impregnation process, AquaProtect significantly improves laminate-core HDF boards’ overall water resistance by preventing up to 75% of water surface swell. All internationally recognised laminate water-resistance standards and tests, including NALFA and ISO 4760, are met by laminate treated with AquaProtect. The company’s most recent addition to its cutting-edge process innovations for flooring manufacturers is AquaProtect, which is only accessible through an i4F licence.
A unique proposition for a relatively low investment
It is a unique proposition since it enables laminate producers to considerably improve their product line for a relatively minimal investment by converting common laminate-core HDF boards into extremely water-resistant goods. The use of basic HDF boards with the same moisture-resistance performance as HDF with a 20% greater resin content is made possible by this solution AquaProtect, which also saves on core materials. Since this technology is completely compatible with current laminate production lines, it can be implemented into production with only a small expenditure. By applying the hydrophobic impregnation agent only where it is essential and eliminating unwanted overspray, AquaProtect technology, which saves resources, differs from other impregnation systems. Both laminate panels with V-grooves and without V-grooves have their connection edges sealed by AquaProtect.
John Rietveldt, i4F CEO, comments, “We believe AquaProtect is quite simply the most advanced water swell-resistant laminate impregnation technology in the world. Return on a relatively low investment is fast as AquaProtect is easy to introduce into existing laminate production lines meaning manufacturers can offer high quality, premium water-resistant laminate without having to use high cost, high resin HDF boards.”
The world leader in spraying solutions for the woodworking industry, Riepe, provides the impregnation agent’s special recipe, which is only made accessible to AquaProtect licensees.
