From March 24 to 27, 2026, the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre will once again be the epicenter of the woodworking industry as HOLZ-HANDWERK opens its doors. This much-anticipated trade fair will bring together woodworking professionals from across Europe for four days of innovation, networking, and hands-on experiences. As always, HOLZ-HANDWERK will be co-located with FENSTERBAU FRONTALE, making it an event not to be missed by joiners, carpenters, and cabinetmakers alike.

In an exclusive interview, Stefan Dittrich, Director for HOLZ-HANDWERK, shared insights into the preparations for the event, the current trends in the woodworking industry, and what attendees can expect in 2026.

A Strong Start to Preparations

With just over six months to go until the event kicks off, Dittrich is confident that the preparations for HOLZ-HANDWERK 2026 are progressing smoothly. “We’re in full swing,” he says. “We’re expanding our successful formats while also introducing fresh ideas and concepts. The registration process is moving along well, and we are seeing strong support from returning exhibitors, even amid the economic challenges the industry is currently facing.”

Some of the big names returning to the event include WEINIG/HOLZ-HER, Leitz, Hettich, Blum, Häfele, and Grass, among many others. According to Dittrich, the list of exhibitors is growing rapidly, with more companies signing up every day. “We encourage anyone who hasn’t registered yet to do so as soon as possible. The first hall plans are already online,” he adds.

Addressing Industry Challenges

The woodworking sector is facing numerous challenges, including rising production and energy costs, material shortages, and shifting customer demands. However, Dittrich is optimistic about how HOLZ-HANDWERK can help the industry overcome these hurdles.

“HOLZ-HANDWERK is more than just a trade fair; it’s a platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration,” he explains. “Our attendees can discuss their challenges openly—whether it’s about material bottlenecks or rising costs—and find solutions together. The fair provides the perfect setting for exhibitors to present innovative products and services that can help address these pressing issues.”

One key element that sets HOLZ-HANDWERK apart is its ability to attract a diverse and highly qualified audience. The trade fair offers exhibitors a chance to connect with the right people, whether they’re looking for new customers, suppliers, or industry partners.

Additionally, the event’s comprehensive supporting program—featuring everything from live demonstrations to educational seminars—will continue to provide valuable insights for both exhibitors and visitors. Dittrich points to the introduction of the new HOLZ-HANDWERK Arena as a key feature for 2026, which will allow attendees to engage with products and best practices up close.

“Discover. Experience. Do.” at HOLZ-HANDWERK

The motto of the event, “Discover. Experience. Do.,” perfectly encapsulates the hands-on nature of the fair. Dittrich emphasizes that HOLZ-HANDWERK is not just about displaying products; it’s about allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the craft. “This is a place where people can try out machines, tools, and materials in real-time,” he says. “It’s a dynamic environment where you can see woodworking in action—whether it’s milling, sanding, or sawing.”

He adds that the fair’s experiential nature is one of its strongest selling points. “Sawdust will fly through the air, and you’ll be able to see products in action. It’s an experience that goes beyond just seeing; it’s about doing and engaging directly with the industry.”

Dittrich also highlights the new HOLZ-HANDWERK Arena, which will take center stage in 2026. This multifunctional space will serve as a hub for product demonstrations, trendspotting, and networking. It will also host discussions on the latest developments in the woodworking industry, offering visitors the chance to learn from experts and interact with fellow professionals.

A Hub for Innovation and Networking

HOLZ-HANDWERK continues to be a focal point for innovation in the woodworking sector. The 2026 event will feature a Material and Product Show, the HOLZ-HANDWERK Campus for career and training opportunities, and a Young Innovators Stand, where start-ups will showcase their latest technologies.

For Dittrich, the highlight of the event is always the people. “The best part is when the halls fill with visitors, and you see familiar faces and engage in exciting conversations. That’s when you truly feel the pulse of the industry,” he says.
