antoni unveils the new PANNELLO AMICO at SICAM 2024

Fantoni presented its new AMICO panel, designed to meet Ecodesign requirements, at the SICAM trade fair in Pordenone from October 15 to 18, 2024. The AMICO panel marked a significant advancement in sustainable design, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to Ecodesign principles.

The Amico panel represents a major development in sustainable design, reflecting Fantoni’s ongoing commitment to Ecodesign. We chose to name it AMICO (‘friend’) in order to emphasise its deep connection with the concept of sustainability in all its forms. AMICO is a friend to nature, to people, to children, to the future, to design, to the circular economy, to innovation and to health. This integrated approach is not limited to meeting the client’s practical needs, but also highlights a commitment to
responsible and sustainable design. This makes Amico not just a product, but a true commitment to a better future.
The innovative panel embodies the values of sustainability and responsibility, in line with European regulations that came into effect on 18 July 2024. This concept is more than just a trend; it is based on a solid legislative foundation, specifically on ISO standards 14040:2006 and 14044:2006. These provide a thorough system of analysis to monitor and certify compliance with the six key points of Ecodesign.
The Amico panel is designed in compliance with these points, in accordance with European guidelines on Ecodesign: it uses sustainable materials, it promotes energy saving, it uses renewable resources, it is made to last, facilitates recycling due to a limited variety of materials, and offers a second life for the furniture, with materials designed to be reused.
Not only this, but Fantoni also uses certified wood, therefore contributing to the responsible management of resources. Thanks to a global approach and a total quality management system, the company recovers 420,000 tonnes of wood every year, generating 360,000 tonnes of chipboard panel. This represents a systemic vision of the circular economy that also integrates the use of renewable energy sources and the recyclability of its products. Vertical integration of production processes, which include all phases of raw material transformation, allows direct quality control, ensuring production, logistical and environmental benefits.

At SICAM, Fantoni showcased its new decorative collections, featuring a selection of fabrics and woods designed to meet the needs of interior designers and the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom industries.

Among the new products was the “Porfido” finish, noted for its texture and depth, which exuded elegant sophistication in line with contemporary design trends.

Additionally, the company highlighted its strengths in production flexibility and coordinated integration between melamine and CPL. These solutions created “total look” spaces, where surfaces were uniform and coordinating, offering versatility and a variety of coverings to craft unique, personalised environments.
