HOMAG Group welcomes Dr. Daniel Schmitt in the management board

HOMAG Group continues expansion of its solid wood segment with the appointment of Dr. Daniel Schmitt as a new board member specifically responsible for this business. Dr. Daniel Schmitt will head the Solid Wood Processing business unit from July 1, 2021, with which HOMAG intends to establish itself as a leading technology partner for sustainable construction with solid wood.

In addition to the subsidiary WEINMANN, HOMAG’s solid wood business also includes the two most recently acquired Danish companies System TM and Kallesoe. Mainly manufacturers of construction elements for sustainable wooden houses are supplied. In this rapidly growing sector, HOMAG intends to significantly expand its market share from currently 10%. In the current year, sales in the solid wood segment are expected to rise to well over € 100 million.

The CEO Ralf W. Dieter emphasizes: “We want to become the leading system supplier for wood construction and develop the solid wood business into a second pillar alongside our activities with the furniture industry. The strengthening of our management team shows how important this new area is to us. “

Dr. Daniel Schmitt will manage the solid wood business together with the management teams from WEINMANN, System TM and Kallesoe. In addition, he will be responsible for the CNC technology business unit and quality management on the Executive Board. The doctor of chemical engineering comes from the HOMAG parent company Dürr. There he has headed the environmental technology division Clean Technology Systems since 2017 and was responsible, among other things, for the acquisition and the complex integration of the US company Megtec / Universal. Before that, he held various management positions at the Freudenberg Group in Weinheim for many years. Dr. Daniel Schmitt explains: “The trend towards sustainability means that more and more buildings are made of wood. With WEINMANN’s strong position and recent acquisitions, HOMAG is well positioned to to grow vigorously in the solid wood sector. My goal is to bring out the strengths of the newly formed Solid Wood Processing division while maintaining the flexibility and customer proximity of the companies operating in it. “
