Demmelhuber enhances interior fit-out capabilities with Hettich AvanTech YOU drawer system

June 18, 2026

Demmelhuber Holz und Raum GmbH has strengthened its production and project delivery capabilities by adopting the AvanTech YOU drawer platform from Hettich across its furniture manufacturing operations. The move reflects the company’s focus on reliability, flexibility and long-term product performance within the highly demanding shopfitting and interior fit-out sector.

Operating across Europe, Demmelhuber provides complete interior construction and bespoke furniture solutions for commercial environments. The company manages every stage of a project in-house, from consultation and planning to manufacturing and installation. This integrated approach enables strict quality control while supporting demanding project schedules.

From modern corporate headquarters to premium office developments and sports facilities, the business delivers a wide range of sophisticated interior projects. Among its recent assignments are large-scale office environments, including the 5,000-square-metre Linden Palais office complex in Berlin. Such projects require furniture systems capable of handling intensive daily use while maintaining a clean and contemporary appearance.

For Demmelhuber, supplier reliability is a critical factor. Consistent material availability is essential. Tight construction programmes leave little room for delays. According to the company, dependable partnerships help ensure that complex projects are completed on time and to specification.

The decision to replace its previous drawer system was driven primarily by availability concerns. Rather than accepting potential disruptions, the company chose to implement the AvanTech YOU platform from Hettich. The transition was evaluated carefully before full adoption.

Several factors influenced the decision. Design quality was one of them. The slim profile of the drawer system aligned well with the company’s furniture concepts and architectural requirements. Product flexibility also played an important role. A broad choice of sizes, finishes and colour options was available. In addition, the overall value proposition met the company’s expectations.

Before introducing the new solution into production, sample installations were completed in cooperation with Hettich representatives. Assembly processes were assessed using AvanFit tools, which simplify drawer construction. During this phase, a suitable stock programme was also established to support both standard and project-specific requirements.

Today, white and anthracite versions of the drawer components are stocked in standard lengths for immediate use. Fast replenishment is supported through cooperation with IuG Baufachhandel in Chemnitz. Additional colours and project-specific variants can also be supplied quickly when required.

The new system has been successfully integrated into daily operations. This integration extends beyond assembly and includes planning, design and manufacturing workflows. Architects typically provide the initial design concepts. Demmelhuber’s technical team then develops detailed production plans and identifies the most suitable hardware for each application.

One significant benefit has been the use of Actro YOU runners across multiple drawer formats. The same runner system can be applied to both steel-sided and timber drawer constructions. As a result, standardisation has increased. Inventory management has also been simplified.

Digital integration has supported the transition. CAD data supplied by Hettich is incorporated into the company’s design software. The information is then processed further for cutting operations and CNC manufacturing. This approach helps maintain efficient production flows while reducing manual adjustments.

Different drawer heights are utilised according to project requirements. Lower configurations are typically specified for cutlery storage. Taller variants are selected for a range of other organisational and storage applications. This flexibility enables designers to tailor solutions to individual customer needs without compromising consistency.

Quality assurance remains a central element of the manufacturing process. Every furniture unit is fully assembled in the workshop before leaving the facility. This procedure is carried out to verify completeness and functionality. Potential issues can therefore be identified before installation begins.

The process delivers additional advantages. Site installation becomes faster. Project risks are reduced. Product quality is also maintained at a consistently high level. The drawer systems are assembled efficiently using knock-in screw technology, supporting streamlined workshop operations.

The benefits of the transition have been widely recognised within the organisation. Increased versatility has been achieved. Greater reliability has been secured. Product quality has been maintained at a high standard. Furthermore, technical support has been strengthened through close cooperation with Hettich and its distribution partners.

For Demmelhuber Holz und Raum, the adoption of the AvanTech YOU system represents more than a hardware change. It is a strategic investment in manufacturing efficiency, design flexibility and dependable supply. As demand for premium interior environments continues to grow, the company is positioning itself to meet increasingly complex project requirements while maintaining the quality standards expected by architects, developers and end users across Europe.
