The countdown to Magna ExpoMueblera has begun. Held at the Centro Banamex exhibition center in Mexico City from January 18 to 21, 2017, the trade show will feature an extensive range of woodworking machinery, tools and equipment for custom and mass production, not to mention a wide array of fittings, accessories and materials. Other key display categories include panel products and veneer manufacturing; living room, kitchen and office furniture; and fabrics, upholstery materials and supplies. Magna ExpoMueblera will be in its 23rd season and is expected to attract more than 300 exhibitors from 30 nations and occupy some 30,000 square meters (322,900 sq. ft.) of exhibition space.
“Magna ExpoMueblera will provide a comprehensive overview of the latest furniture manufacturing technology and machines for workshop-based and mass production,” commented Christian Pfeiffer, the director in charge of LIGNA & Woodworking Events at Deutsche Messe. “It will be the first time that the long-standing show has been organized by Deutsche Messe, which has a local subsidiary in Mexico. And it is particularly pleasing to see that it will have a more international mix of exhibitors. The market leaders will be there with an extensive array of products and solutions, ranging from entry-level CNC machines to integrated CNC systems for mass production.”
In fact, one of the big highlights of the show will be a special CNC display and supporting conference program. The participants at the display include world-leading providers of woodworking machinery for trade, workshop and industrial use. Among them will be the Austrian firm Felder, which will be represented via the Felder Group Mexico; the German firm Homag, represented by US firm Stiles Machinery; and the local representatives of the Italian machinery giants Biesse and SCM. Spain’s Cehisa and Mexico’s Centromaq will also be there.
The main focus of the supporting conference program will be on leveraging new technologies to increase productivity. Much of the discussion on this will relate to the use of intelligent technologies to achieve integrated manufacturing across all links in the wood processing chain. This is important, because integrated manufacturing opens the way for companies to develop new business areas, boost productivity and hence become more competitive. “To illustrate this, the participating companies will profile the convergence and ongoing integration of the virtual and real worlds,” Pfeiffer explained. “In terms of visitors, we are expecting furniture manufacturers, machinery and tool manufacturers, and representatives of the wood-based trades, the timber industry and the office equipment and furniture retail sectors. Which just goes to show that integrated manufacturing and Industry 4.0 affects all industries,” he added.
On 8 June 2016, Deutsche Messe acquired a majority stake in Magna ExpoMueblera. The show focuses on the Mexican market, where it is an important facilitator of exports to North and Central America. It is therefore an excellent fit for Deutsche Messe’s global network. The acquisition gives Deutsche Messe a presence in Mexico to match its lineup in the USA, Canada and Brazil. The flagship of Deutsche Messe’s worldwide portfolio of wood-industry trade shows is LIGNA, which it operates in Hannover, Germany, in partnership with the German Engineering.
