At Milano Design Week 2026, CESAR introduced a thrilling new development of its acclaimed Tangram project, designed by García Cumini. First launched in 2022, the original Tangram system challenged traditional kitchen design by reflecting on geometry and materiality to create a truly welcoming, convivial space at the heart of the home. Now, CESAR has taken it a step further with an expanded design that seamlessly integrates an additional module, enhancing the system’s modularity while reinforcing its visual integrity.

Expanding Possibilities with a Fresh Modular Approach

Tangram’s latest iteration builds on its foundational concept of flexible, fluid design by extending its vocabulary beyond the kitchen island. With the addition of new elements—tall units, wall cabinets, and wall-mounted base units—the updated system offers a more dynamic, adaptable space that caters to a variety of home environments. “The expansion of Tangram stems from the ongoing dialogue that CESAR maintains with designers, architects, and partners, which for us is an essential tool,” says Gina Cester, CEO of CESAR. “It is through this continuous exchange that we identify real needs and build new development trajectories, allowing our systems to grow over time without compromising their identity.”

This thoughtful approach to expansion ensures that the system maintains its distinctive charm while responding to evolving design demands.

Tangram’s Organic Geometry and Dynamic Form

The key innovation of the Tangram system lies in its unique geometric approach. Rather than relying on repeatable forms, the design embraces organic, unpredictable geometries. The system is built from modules that can be combined in multiple configurations, offering a fluid, dynamic aesthetic where each composition retains its own individuality, yet is instantly recognizable as part of the Tangram family.

“The light does not stop at the edges, it follows them,” says García Cumini, the Art Director at CESAR. “Curved surfaces soften contrasts and create gentle transitions, lending depth to the volumes.” This principle is not only retained but extended to the vertical elements in the new module, strengthening the dialogue between solids and voids. The design of the curved doors requires meticulous craftsmanship, where multiple layers are bonded together to ensure stability and durability—a process that reflects the rigorous development behind the Tangram project.

Material and Surface Innovation

Every detail of Tangram, from the choice of materials to the careful fine-tuning of surfaces, speaks to a commitment to quality and innovation. The new configuration showcases this dedication, especially through the bold use of color and texture. The tall units are finished in Anodyc Jaipur Red Lacquer, a hue inspired by the rich, layered tones of Jaipur’s architecture. The lacquered Groove doors, featuring a sequence of vertically milled grooves with an irregular rhythm, soften the perception of junctions between modules, providing a seamless, continuous overall image.

The contrast between the island’s Seta Lacquer finish and Breccia Sarda marble worktop further highlights the harmony of materials in the design. In addition, the introduction of Palmier, a new edge profile for the worktop, expands the range of finishes available, offering even more customization options. The finishing touch is the Oi handles, designed by García Cumini in a stylish Bronze finish, adding an elegant accent to the entire composition.

A Vision Beyond the Kitchen

With this new module, Tangram goes beyond the kitchen, hinting at its potential for use in other domestic spaces. Its modularity and versatile design create a seamless connection between the kitchen and living areas, broadening its applications and enhancing its appeal for modern homes that value fluid, open-plan living.

By combining cutting-edge design with innovative materials and flexible functionality, CESAR’s Tangram continues to redefine the contemporary kitchen. The system’s latest evolution not only expands its compositional possibilities but also elevates the concept of the kitchen as a space that fosters connection and community in the home.

With Tangram’s evolution, CESAR demonstrates its commitment to staying at the forefront of kitchen design, blending form, materiality, and functionality into a unified vision that speaks to both the present and the future of home living.
