Modvion one of the smartest tech companies focuses on engineered wood is thrilled to announce that they are on Ny Teknik’s prestigious 33-list. This is for the third time, making Modvion a ’gold Company’! For the sixteenth year in a row, Ny Teknik has named Sweden’s 33 best, most innovative and promising young technology companies that are most interesting right now.
Swedish wood technology company Modvion develops demanding designs made of laminated wood, nature’s carbon fibre, for large-scale applications. They have the potential to transform their industries and play an important role in technology shifts in society. Modvion challenges the potential within wood and loves to replace the steel and concrete with wood. They make the whole thing in a hyper intelligent way to make wind power almost free from carbon emissions.
“Being on the list for the third year in a row, in fierce competition, is something we are incredibly proud of. It is rewarding that Ny Teknik recognize the potential in our technology and our commitment to drive innovation for sustainable solutions, in the wind power industry for a greener future.” Says Otto Lundman, CEO and Co-founder of Modvion.
The list is produced by Ny Teknik’s jury, which consists of four technology journalists. Since last spring, they have reviewed over 200 nominated companies. In the process, the level of technology, potential for scale-up and business acumen is reviewed, as well as how any studies, tests, demonstration projects and customer collaborations have gone.
What are the requirements?
Requirements the 33 companies must meet are:
The company is based on a proprietary innovation.
The company is a maximum of seven years.
The company is not listed on any trading venue.
A company may be on the list a maximum of three times.
Wooden designs enable radical reductions in emissions by replacing emission-heavy materials such as steel and concrete. Thanks to Modvion’s patented module system, Modvion has been able to develop cost-effective wind turbine towers and more efficient transportation for installations of tall towers. The operation is part-financed by the Swedish Energy Agency, the Västra Götaland region, and the EU program Horizon 2020 EIC Accelerator.
