Cairo WoodShow 2021 to go virtual and leading to industry recovery

 Tuesday, January 12, 2021

Cairo WoodShow 2021 to happen in all new hybrid avatar and guide path to industry recovery. Another victim of the pandemic situation, as the Cairo Woodshow organisers decides to organise the 6th edition of the Cairo Wood Show 2021 in the virtual format to maintain social distancing and by following the new normal regulations effectively. For the past one year pandemic has restricted movements and hence impacted negatively on the woodworking events. The organisers have decided to hold the upcoming show from February 18 – 21, 2021 but in a new avatar. Since face to face meeting is not possible Egypt is gearing up to meet and greet over the virtual platform while capturing new business prospects in the growing economy of Egypt.

Though the world is limping back to normalcy and companies are struggling to return to business. Customers have developed newer expectations and new needs have developed out of the home based living conditions. Home office and lockdown have created innovative needs and desires, and at a time like this, companies are focussing on developing new products catering to these needs while eliminating manufacturing of general products as needed in the market before March 2020.

Amidst the transitional phase, Egypt today is one of the top market place for the wood, woodworking machinery and furniture sector in the entire North Africa region with a very robust economy and is set to grow at 5.29% till 2024. The wood imports reached the value of USD 1.43 billion in 2019 with main trading partners like Russia, Finland, Sweden, Croatia, China, USA, Romania etc. The market of Egypt not only has tremendous scope for doing business for products like sawn wood, plywood, veneered panel products, fibreboard, sheets for veneering but importing products like particleboards (USD 7.56 million in 2019), industry machine tools (USD 6.79 million in 2019) and other packaging materials including wooden pallets (USD 4.43 million in 2019). Thus, some business hope in in spite of gloom and despair caved in by the sudden outbreak of pandemic.

The participants will be able to indulge into the WoodShow’s 6th edition and promote brands and products in the ever growing vibrant market of Egypt.
