ZOW 2020 to get an inspiration from PTC 2020 by imm cologne

 Wednesday, January 29, 2020

Innovations often lie in the details. This is something that hardly needs saying to the detail-focused creative minds from suppliers to the furniture industry who will be presenting their collections and new product developments at ZOW in Bad Salzuflen from February 4 to 6, 2020. But young designers know a lot about this, too, as the special exhibition Best of the Pure Talents Contest 2020 by imm cologne at ZOW demonstrates.

A table with a frame that simply folds together and can hold tabletops of different sizes; chairs with click-together connections; cheeky upholstered furniture for flat-pack concepts and even an ultralight stool made from flax fibre – these are just some of the nominated designs from the Pure Talents Contest, the competition for young designers hosted in Cologne at the recent edition of imm cologne, that are now making their way to ZOW. Their appearance at ZOW is intended to impress the design-savvy audience, but also to inspire furniture makers and developers from the supplier industry to give some thought to devising innovations of their own in the creative workshop of ZOW 2020.

“We saw many exciting prototypes in the Pure Talents Contest at imm cologne 2020 that have the potential to positively influence home living in the future. ZOW 2020 is not only perfectly timed; the event’s content provides the perfect framework and allows visitors and exhibitors to start a dialogue and work together as partners to see which inspiring ideas they can incorporate into their own product developments,” says Maik Fischer, Director of ZOW.

The special exhibition at ZOW displays selected ideas and prototypes that present visionary concepts for furniture and furniture construction. With their design solutions, the young designers have addressed climate change or developed multifunctional ideas for changing living circumstances. The prototypes on show range from an intuitive connection system for furniture and a luminaire collection made from paper to multifunctional tables and workspaces: Best of the Pure Talents Contest is an exhibition showcasing ten ideas for tomorrow’s home living. Studying the innovative prototypes and product systems not only offers ZOW visitors added value – the ideas developed by the young creatives represent the up-and-coming generation of designers’ thoughts on the design of future living spaces.
