For the woodworking sector, where reliable bonding technologies are essential for furniture production, interior construction and industrial applications, Dr Terfloth’s work represented a major contribution to the development of advanced adhesive solutions and long-term innovation strategies.

Three Decades of Growth and Strategic Leadership at Jowat

Dr Christian Terfloth joined Jowat SE in 1995 as executive assistant to the Board of Directors. His career developed rapidly as he moved into leadership of the company’s Research & Development division, where he played a central role in modernising processes and expanding international research capabilities.

In 2003, Dr Terfloth became a member of the Board of Directors, taking responsibility for several key business areas, including Research & Development, Technical Support & Service, Purchasing and Management Systems.

During his leadership period, Jowat strengthened its position as a global supplier of industrial adhesive technologies. He also shared his expertise through academic engagement at the OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Since 2017, he has additionally served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Schomburg Group.

These roles reflected his commitment to advancing technical knowledge, encouraging collaboration and supporting the next generation of specialists in adhesive technology.

For woodworking professionals, innovation in adhesives continues to be a critical factor in improving production efficiency, product durability and sustainability. Dr Terfloth’s contribution helped strengthen the importance of research-based solutions within the industry.

Carefully Planned Leadership Transition Ensures Continuity

Jowat SE’s Supervisory Board highlighted that Dr Terfloth’s succession was developed through a structured transition process designed to maintain operational stability and strategic continuity.

Supervisory Board Chairman Professor Dr Andreas Wiedemann stated that the planned transition would preserve the company’s direction while building on the foundation created over previous decades.

The company appointed Dr Olaf Meincke to the Board of Directors on January 1, 2026. He assumed responsibility for Research & Development and Research Services, preparing the organisation for the leadership change.

Following Dr Terfloth’s retirement, his remaining responsibilities, including Technical Support & Service, Purchasing and Management Systems, will be transferred to other members of the Jowat SE Board of Directors.

This approach allows Jowat to maintain consistency across its operations while continuing its focus on technological progress and customer-focused adhesive solutions.
