Wemhöner Surface Technologies, a leading name in wood processing machinery, proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025. Established in 1925 in Herford, Germany, the company has evolved from a modest workshop into a global technology leader in surface finishing systems for wood-based materials.
Under the stewardship of the third-generation owner, Heiner Wemhöner, the company has expanded its footprint to meet the growing demands of the furniture and laminate flooring industries. The Herford headquarters houses approximately 300 employees and serves as the central hub for innovation and production.
Recognizing the burgeoning Asian market, Wemhöner inaugurated its first production facility in Changzhou, China, in 2007. This strategic move was further solidified with the opening of a second plant in 2021, expanding the total production area in Jiangsu Province to 17,000 square meters. These facilities primarily cater to the Asian market, producing membrane presses, short-cycle press systems, and printing and coating systems.
The company’s commitment to innovation is encapsulated in its motto: “INSPIRE. INVENT. CONNECT.” This ethos drives Wemhöner to develop sophisticated solutions tailored to the unique requirements of its global clientele. By maintaining close collaborations with partners worldwide, Wemhöner ensures that its machinery meets the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
Wemhöner’s dedication to excellence has been recognized through numerous accolades, including titles such as “World Market Leader,” “Brand of the Century,” and “Best of German Industry.” These honors reflect the company’s unwavering commitment to quality and innovation in mechanical and plant engineering.
As Wemhöner celebrates a century of success, it continues to look forward, embracing new challenges and opportunities in the ever-evolving landscape of wood processing technology. With a solid foundation built on tradition and a forward-thinking approach, Wemhöner is poised to lead the industry for decades to come.
