At LIGNA 2025 in Hannover, Vecoplan, a top-tier supplier of machinery for wood and biomass processing, is set to debut its groundbreaking chipper equipped with the innovative HiTorc drive—marking a first in the wood processing sector. Alongside this, Vecoplan will introduce an enhanced, modular design of its renowned VTH drum chipper series, showcasing both technological advancements and improved operational efficiency.
The highlight of Vecoplan’s exhibition at Hall 25, Stand F66, will be the new VTH 600-1050 BT chipper featuring the HiTorc drive. This state-of-the-art biomass chipper offers remarkable benefits, including high throughput, superior system availability, and significantly reduced energy consumption. Especially effective under partial load conditions, the HiTorc drive consumes only about 10% of the energy compared to traditional asynchronous motors during idle times, making it highly suitable for large wood processing facilities and sawmills facing irregular material feed. Overall, energy savings of up to 40% are achievable, along with lower maintenance costs, as the electric HiTorc drive eliminates mechanical parts like clutches and belts. Philipp Kasper, Director of Industrial Shredding at Vecoplan, emphasizes that no other competitor in the wood processing industry matches these advantages.
In addition to the HiTorc innovation, Vecoplan will reveal the redesigned VTH 160 and VTH 260 drum chipper models. These machines expand the capabilities of the VTH series to cover intake heights up to 260 mm. The new models feature advanced technical improvements and a contemporary machine design that enhances material flow and accessibility for both operators and maintenance teams. They retain the core functions of the VTH series but provide customizable rotor, screen, and counter knife configurations to better meet user needs. Furthermore, digital services such as the Vecoplan Smart Center (VSC) enable remote diagnostics and support, optimizing machine uptime and service efficiency.
Vecoplan’s showcase at LIGNA 2025 highlights its commitment to pioneering sustainable, efficient, and flexible wood and biomass processing technologies.
