Thailand’s thriving woodworking and furniture industry is gearing up to host the Thailand International Woodworking and Furniture Exhibition 2024 (TIWF 2024). Scheduled from September 18th to 20th, 2024, the event will take place at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bangkok.
TIWF 2024 aims to be a premier business platform, showcasing the latest technologies, solutions, materials, trends, and sustainability practices impacting the woodworking sector, not only in Thailand but also throughout Southeast Asia. Hosted by Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the exhibition has garnered endorsements from over 17 international and local industry organizations, underscoring its significance as a vital regional industry platform.
Spanning over 5,000 square meters of exhibition space, TIWF 2024 has confirmed participation from national exhibitor groups from Germany, USA, Italy, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, and Thailand, alongside more than 150 exhibitors from 22 countries. The event expects to attract over 4,000 delegates and trade buyers from across the woodworking and furniture production industry in Thailand and the broader Southeast Asian region.
TIWF 2024 will also serve as a knowledge exchange hub, featuring a series of conferences, seminars, carpentry skill masterclasses, and DIY workshops conducted by vocational institutes and industry experts. Additionally, the event will facilitate numerous business activities, including business matching programs, networking events, technology demonstrations, and product presentations.
In preparation for TIWF 2024, the organizers conducted a roadshow in Chiang Mai, North Thailand, which included a seminar on sustainability trends in woodworking production. The seminar was attended by over 70 delegates from 54 companies, highlighting the region’s vibrant woodworking industry. A similar event is planned for May in Songkhla, South Thailand, a region rich in natural wood resources and known for its blend of large-scale manufacturing and traditional craftsmanship.
The strong industry support for TIWF 2024 reflects the need for a regional face-to-face business and knowledge exchange platform in Thailand. The exhibition not only aims to facilitate new business opportunities but also addresses industry challenges such as the slow adoption of technology and automation.
Thailand remains a significant player in the woodworking machinery market, being the world’s 30th largest importer of woodworking machinery valued at US$60.8 million. The country’s key wood product exports, which include sawn wood, paper, fiberboard, particleboard, and wooden furniture, have seen significant growth, with exports increasing by 30% to THB 109.8 billion in 2021, and furniture and parts exports rising by 16% to US$1.8 billion in 2022.
