Metsä Group has suspended operation in it’s only production unit in Russia, the Svir sawmill. Wood procurement in Russia for the Svir sawmill and imports to Metsä Group’s Finnish and Swedish mills has also been discontinued.

Metsa Fibre a part of Metsa Group recently signed a contract with Kemi bioproduct on electrical, automation and ICT installation. The contracts form an important part of the whole bioproduct mill. Signed as planned and on schedule, the contracts include all the mill’s process electricity, building electricity and instrument installations, as well as ICT cabling and equipment.

Ilkka Hämälä, President and CEO of Metsä Group, is now the newly appointed Chairman of Cepi, the European Confederation of the Paper and Pulp Industry as of January 1, 2022. Hämälä’s mandate will last for two years.
