Sveza Group once more becomes one of the top employers in Russia

December 11, 2025
Sveza-top employer recognition

Sveza Group has again been recognised with dual high-ranking accolades in 2025. The company was named among the Top 50 Best Employers in Russia by RBC and achieved a prestigious “Gold” rating in the Forbes Best Employers in Russia ESG ranking.

The recognitions solidify Sveza’s position not only as a crucial supplier of high-quality, durable wood products—with an annual production capacity of approximately 1.4 million cubic meters, primarily 100% birch plywood—but also as a progressive and responsible corporate citizen within the broader Russian industrial landscape. The plywood market, particularly the premium birch segment, relies on companies like Sveza to demonstrate robust adherence to environmental and social standards to meet the rising demand for sustainable materials in construction and furniture manufacturing worldwide.

The RBC ranking, which assessed 380 companies against 40 rigorous criteria, placed Sveza in the elite tier of Russia’s Top 50 employers, positioning it as one of the 20 leading industrial companies in the country. This comprehensive evaluation focused on aspects critical to modern workforce retention and development, including workplace quality, compensation, career trajectory, and corporate culture.

A key factor driving this recognition is Sveza’s dedicated people-focused approach. The company ensures its employees benefit from:

Modern and safe environments: Continuous investment in modernising facilities and maintaining high safety standards across its mills in regions like Kostroma, Vologda, and Perm.

Competitive compensation: Steadily increasing salaries and comprehensive benefits packages to support the well-being of its workforce.

Career development: Structured training, mentoring programs, and clear career paths designed to foster long-term professional growth and expertise in complex wood processing technology.

Empowering initiatives: A corporate culture that actively supports employee and community initiatives through grant programs, enabling social and volunteer projects in the local areas where the company operates.

Irina Kazantseva, Organizational Development and Human Resources Director at Sveza, commented on the significance of the achievement: “Being included in RBC’s Top 50 and receiving Forbes Gold reflects our consistent efforts both for our teams and the communities where we operate. We are building an environment where people can work and grow comfortably, and we see firsthand how employee engagement drives growth and positive change.”

Beyond its workplace practices, Sveza’s Gold status in the Forbes ranking underscores its proactive stance on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance. The Forbes evaluation rigorously analyzed over 200 companies, making the Gold status a testament to the comprehensive nature of Sveza’s sustainability strategy.

Since 2019, Sveza has been executing an ambitious ESG strategy focused on several key outcomes vital to the future of the Russian timber industry:

Environmental Responsibility (E): Improving resource efficiency, particularly in wood utilisation, and substantially reducing its environmental footprint. This aligns with the global shift towards green building materials and certified, responsibly sourced wood products.

Circular Bioeconomy and Green Energy (E): Investing billions of rubles in projects promoting green energy and the circular bioeconomy—reusing byproducts and minimising waste in the plywood manufacturing process.

Social Development (S): Focused investments in the development of local communities, including support for education, healthcare, and sports infrastructure, acknowledging the company’s role as a major employer in its regions.

Governance (G): Enhancing quality of life and ensuring transparent, ethical corporate governance across its operations.

The global birch plywood market is experiencing sustained growth, driven by increasing construction activity, urbanisation, and a strong preference for durable, aesthetically pleasing wood products in high-end applications like furniture, flooring, and specialised construction formwork. However, this market growth is increasingly linked to sustainable forestry and robust ESG reporting. By proactively investing in these areas, Sveza mitigates supply chain risks and strengthens its access to international markets that demand FSC-certified and ethically produced materials.

Sveza Group’s double recognition is a significant indicator for the wider wood products sector. It demonstrates that in an industrial domain traditionally focused on resource extraction and manufacturing efficiency, a commitment to social capital and environmental stewardship is now essential for long-term competitive advantage.

As construction and infrastructure projects—both domestic and international—rely on the superior strength and durability of birch plywood, the company’s focus on ethical sourcing and community well-being positions it to capitalise on the growing demand for materials that contribute positively to both global climate goals and local economies. The continued modernisation and people-centric strategy ensure that Sveza maintains a talented, engaged workforce capable of innovating and producing the high-quality materials required by the evolving global construction and design industries.
