Over the years IMA Schelling has offered constant support to the manufacturing industry. Recently, manufacturer Blanke Türwerke GmbH once again relied on the efficiency, skill and technology of the brand IMA Schelling and ended manufacturing complexities with latest innovative machines and automation technology.

Doors give a room character, they determine the look of an apartment or house and they are constant companions of the residents. Blanke Türwerke GmbH from Bad Iburg in Lower Saxony relies on the modular BIMA Gx50 mobile gantry machine from IMA Schelling for the surface processing of its wooden interior doors. It makes it possible to give the doors a very special design.

Piles doors, light cut-out doors, frame design doors, style doors and many more: The company Blanke Türwerke GmbH is a specialist for interior doors and frames with a long company tradition. As one of the top-performing door manufacturers in Germany, Blanke has more than 100 years of experience on the market. The company from Bad Iburg in south-western Lower Saxony produces interior doors with decor, CPL (Continuous Pressure Laminate) and white lacquer finishes.

Blanke has long relied on a machining center from IMA Schelling for the production of the frames: The CNC machine BIMA Cx40 is an all-rounder on which even components made of aluminum and plastic can be machined. Its cantilever design allows the machine to process oversizes and thus allows great freedom in assignment.

Blanke was now looking for a new solution for the production of the doors. “Our door production has moved to a new production hall. For this reason, we also retired our old machining centers and thus made room for the most modern machines,” explains Karsten Schlegel, head of the work preparation department at Blanke.

“Our recommendation was the BIMA Gx50,” explains Dennis Reddig, Product Manager at IMA Schelling. As a throughfeed CNC machine, the BIMA Gx50 takes on exactly those tasks that are not possible on a classic throughfeed machine: lock case milling, hinge drilling, ITS milling (internal door closer), milling and drilling for handle sets and spy holes or multiple locks as well as the creation of light cut-outs or decorative surface millings such as pilaster strips.

The BIMA Gx50 is a modular moving gantry machine that is also suitable for milling, gluing and laser edging. The 5-axis head developed by IMA Schelling in combination with an individually adaptable tool change concept is used for the various types of processing required by Blanke Türe. This offers a wide range of options – from classic disk changers per spindle to permanently installed pick-up changers to chain changers with access to several spindles and combinations of several of these systems. The stable gantry design of the CNC machine and the highly rigid machine bed ensure extremely high process reliability.

The machine was equipped with two processing spindles, a 4-axis and a 5-axis spindle, in order to be able to master the tasks set optimally and with optimised set-up times. Both spindles can carry out tool changes parallel to machining, i.e. while the other spindle is being processed.
