Södra appointed Magnus Örnberg as the company’s new CFO. With a mission to refine and renew family forestry, the company decides to make these alterations as financial governance and strategic development play a key role in this process. Magnus Örnberg will join the Södra Group Senior Management as of May 1 and begin his duties. Until then, Sara Cronholm will continue to act as Södra’s Interim CFO.

“Magnus is a down-to-earth person and experienced leader with a long background in industrial and global companies. His commitment, ability to engage and develop employees, and to lead an organisation’s financial functions and structure, will make an important contribution to Södra’s journey. I am therefore delighted to welcome Magnus to Södra,” said Lotta Lyrå, President of Södra.

Magnus has substantial management expertise in all facets of finance and is a graduate of the Stockholm School of Economics. He most recently held the position of CFO at SAS, but he has also held comparable positions at Saab and ABB in the past.

“I am looking forward to joining an industry which is new to me. The forest industry is important for both Sweden and the climate, and a fundamental basic industry with historical roots. It will be a natural priority for me to continue future-proofing Södra’s operations, with strong cash flow and profitability, but most of all, I am looking forward to joining an organisation with forward-looking leadership, which I hope I can both contribute to, and help to further develop,” said Magnus Örnberg.

Södra is a major organisation in the forest industry with the goal of producing goods and services for the international market and boosting the Swedish economy. With the objective of creating new, sustainable, climate-smart solutions based on renewable forest raw materials, the association’s 51,000 forest-owning members and 3,300 workers continuously work to increase the value of forests and the benefits that customers realise from their products and services.
