SCM partners Gautier- begins a new journey

 Monday, January 24, 2022

SCM announces evolution of one of the Europe’s leading furniture makers Gautier’s new and ambitious project into reality through partnership. The new partnership will assist Gautier to utilise SCM’s Smart&Human Factory in manufacturing and production. This new ambitious project successfully combines the expertise, innovation and skill of two of the leaders in the key segments, as one of the leading French company, Gautier,  in the production of custom-designed furniture, has selected a high-automation line for “batch one” machining at its new and third plant in Saint-Prouan, in the department of Vendée.

“We chose SCM because the company’s offer met our specifications most closely, providing relevant and innovative custom solutions. Moreover, we knew the reliability and quality of the SCM Group from previous investments.” – Olivier Hulot, Industrial Director.

Creativity is the driving force behind Gautier’s development and diversification. Gautier, the brand has evolved since its advent in 1980s and has established its brand name in the furniture industry through its distinguished contribution and path-breaking innovations in the furniture industry. They made a landmark contribution by creating an innovative concept such as the bedroom as a personal space for children while creating adult bedrooms as well as office furniture. However, with time in the 1990s, the industry witnessed the launch of the unique living room collection, along with walk-in wardrobes in 2000s which gained tremendous popularity among the buyers.

This production line is one of the most advanced engineering projects ever created by SCM that extends for 100 metres and includes cells for nesting, edgebanding and drilling, aided by flexstore automatic storages, industrial robots and handling systems for loading and unloading the panels. An investment that will make custom-designed furniture production even more flexible and efficient.

Acquisition of this new production tool is a further step in Gautier’s development, with the company understanding that to stay on top of heap, it is important to be visionary, innovative and creative, while not forgetting the human touch. This is certainly the path pursued by the Vendée company, which, at the start of 2016, launched the online sale of its products for the French and English markets. Yet another way to move with the times.
