SCM Group, a global leader in machining technologies for a wide array of materials and industrial components, has announced its return to the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) next month. The company is set to showcase cutting-edge technological and digital innovations, accompanied by an extensive program of live demonstrations designed for the woodworking industry.
SCM’s 29,500-square-foot exhibition space will feature a broad range of products and services aimed at addressing every specific production process within the sector, including furniture manufacturing, windows and doors machining, solid wood processing, surface treatment, and bespoke joinery.
“Many of the innovations on display will confirm SCM’s ongoing commitment to the development of automated and highly efficient solutions in response to skilled labor shortages and the necessity of guaranteeing continuous production cycles,” the company stated.
A highlight of SCM’s exhibit will be the exclusive Cabsort Lean Cell, which incorporates the Morbidelli x200 CNC machining center. This advanced system is designed for high-speed nesting, robotic sorting, stacking, and doweling. The cell organizes end panels and cabinet parts to keep similar components together and aligned on the same axis for edgebanding.
The innovative design includes a robot on a linear 7th-axis rail system, enhancing sorting capabilities while maintaining a minimal footprint. Additionally, material carts within the cell are used for sorting all nested panels into defined stacks, integrated with safety interlocks. The system can perform the tasks of three workers, requiring only one operator to tend it 25% of the time. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience guided tours of the cell in operation during selected show hours.
SCM Group’s companies are trusted partners to leading industries across various product sectors, coordinating, supporting, and developing a system of industrial excellence from three highly specialized production centers in Italy, with a direct presence on five continents.
This showcase at IWF 2024 underscores SCM Group’s dedication to advancing automation and efficiency in the woodworking industry, meeting contemporary challenges, and enhancing production processes globally.
