 Thursday, November 13, 2025

SCM Group, a leading multinational designer, producer, and supplier of advanced technologies for the processing of a wide range of materials, most notably wood, has achieved a historic milestone. The company has once again been honoured at the Best Managed Companies (BMC) Award, now in its eighth edition, and for the fifth consecutive year, officially earning its place in the exclusive ‘Gold’ category.

This outstanding achievement solidifies SCM Group’s status not just as a global powerhouse in woodworking machinery, but as a paragon of managerial and operational excellence within the competitive Italian manufacturing sector. The consistent recognition underscores the stability, resilience, and forward-thinking nature of the Group’s leadership, particularly in successfully navigating complex international dynamics.

The Best Managed Companies Award is organised by Deloitte Private, with the distinguished participation of ELITE-Gruppo Euronext, Piccola Industria Confindustria, and the methodological support of the ALTIS Graduate School of Sustainable Management of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The program rigorously evaluates companies based on a comprehensive set of key criteria designed to identify and celebrate world-class managerial practices.

The ceremony, held on October 29 at the historic Palazzo Mezzanotte in Milan, acknowledged a total of 72 examples of manufacturing excellence across Italy. For SCM Group, entering the Gold category—a distinction reserved for long-standing winners—is a powerful testament to the ingrained quality of its management across all operational domains.

The areas of assessment considered by the judging panel included:

Strategy and innovation

The continuous success of SCM Group in these key management pillars directly reflects its sustained focus on pioneering technology within the woodworking industry. Recent corporate initiatives and developments underline a dynamic strategy centred on digital and sustainable transformation:

  1. Innovation leadership: SCM Group’s commitment to innovation is evidenced by recent projects, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for defect detection and the development of the SmartSpindle 5.0, an innovative system for monitoring and optimising electrospindle performance in machinery. These digital projects, which have also secured recent SMAU Innovation Awards, demonstrate a proactive approach to enhancing efficiency and sustainability for customers.
  2. Global footprint: As a global leader in woodworking machinery, SCM Group leverages its extensive international network, ensuring its structured, long-term growth strategy is globally executable. The Group’s ability to thrive in a complex international environment is a direct result of effective Internationalisation and robust management of its Supply Chain.
  3. Corporate culture and talent development: The Group’s focus on Commitment and Corporate Culture is vital. By actively supporting the development of technical expertise and fostering strong team spirit across its global operations, SCM Group ensures it has the skilled workforce necessary to both innovate and deliver exceptional customer service.

Attending the award ceremony on behalf of the company were Davide De Sossi, CFO, and Gian Luca Fariselli, Communications Director. Their presence underscored the value the Group places on this recognition as a validation of their overarching strategy.

A representative for SCM Group stated: “Receiving the Best Managed Companies Award for the fifth consecutive year and entering the Gold category is an immense source of pride for the entire SCM Group community. It is a powerful external validation that our structured, long-term approach to growth—one that prioritises Capabilities and Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility, and robust Governance—is not only effective but truly market-leading. This achievement reflects the dedication of our 4,000 employees worldwide, who consistently demonstrate the passion and drive needed to successfully navigate a complex international landscape and maintain our position at the forefront of the woodworking technology market.”

This sustained success, particularly in criteria like Cyber Security and CSR (which often involve significant, forward-looking investment), indicates SCM Group’s dedication to holistic, sustainable management beyond simple short-term financial metrics. As the global woodworking industry continues its transition toward Industry 4.0 and advanced digitalisation, SCM Group’s Gold BMC status serves as a crucial benchmark for the future of world-class, technologically advanced manufacturing.

The commitment of SCM Group to these principles ensures that they not only remain competitive but continue to set the standards for product quality, operational integrity, and management excellence in the decades to come.
