Schattdecor established itself as a crowd-puller at the recently concluded mega trade fair – interzum 2023, held between May 9th and 12th. With a favourable outcome, the industry and the trade show for the return of the physical interzum demonstrated the significance of cross-border interpersonal communication and a venue like the interzum for the sector.

“It was incredibly fun to present our new decors and products as well as our new trend concept “Freiraum” live together with our partners and receive immediate feedback,” says Claudia Küchen, responsible for the fair trade appearance as Board Member for Design and Marketing.

As stated by the slogan “One Source. Unlimited Solutions.” Even though, according to Koelnmesse, it could not quite be equaled in numbers, the international team has once again succeeded in building on the success of the most recent physical trade fair in 2019. According to the Schattdecor study, customers and trade show attendees agreed that the event was beneficial.

Schattdecor is confident that interzum will continue to serve as the industry’s gathering point.

“No other format or presentation can beat this leading international trade fair.” Roland Auer, CEO of Schattdecor SE, Cologne.

What was the highlight?

Positive reviews were given to new items from the surface sector, including Fineflex and MFS-Touch, and products from the décor sector, including Riva, Acapulco, Sydney, the Salvador oak, or best-sellers like the Karlstad oak.

The guests reacted favourably to the new trend concept “Freiraum,” which was the sole theme of the Schattdecor appearance. What is required for the future, if not already available, can be launched and developed through new technology possibilities, a rethinking of society, and a new generation of sharp minds, according to the main claim of the new trend concept, “Now Everything Is Possible.”

What was the best outcome?

Visitors flocked to Schattdecor’s kitchen area to check out the two new Fineflex collections in solid colours and metallic effects, with the phrase “material evolution” as their catchphrase. In addition to the aforementioned options as a 2D wrapping and 3D thermoforming film, the eco-friendly PET furniture film was also displayed in a thermoforming variation with a fresh Fineflex Nature effect in the vogue colour pearl bronze.

A combination that Schattdecor and Fine Decor say will be offered on the market soon.

The area of cutting-edge surfaces also inspired the MFS-Touch product. Velvety soft, extremely matte, and scratch-resistant, the new surface offers an intriguing alternative to the popular and in-demand current alternatives.

Speaking of trends, it was nevertheless impossible to avoid decors with a rod appearance, like Omega Oak, or the consistent use of oak, even if the Schattdecor sample orders also aroused a lot of interest in other types of wood, such as the Riva cherry wood decor. Natural stone decorations like those from Acapulco, Sydney, the Salvador oak, and Karlstad oak are equally popular.

Proflex 3D, the “healthy floor” from Schattdecor, was also a popular topic during the trade show. A subject that has been advocated since 2017 but is gaining momentum once more in these days of environmental awareness.

“A trade fair like Interzum thrives on new products, innovations, and competition. Unfortunately, the trade fair landscape this year was manageable in this respect. After numerous personal discussions and such a successful service, we are very confident that in 2025 no one will want to be missing,” concluded Claudia Küchen after the comeback of the Interzum in Cologne.
