Pilot project for PEFC

 Monday, July 18, 2016

pefcImproving the practicality and user-friendliness of the PEFC Chain of Custody standard, while still maintaining and enhancing its integrity, is a vital and continuous process for the members of PEFC.

Their latest effort will see them focus on PEFC Chain of Custody multi-site certification, as they launch a pilot project to test the feasibility of conducting internal audits remotely.

The PEFC Chain of Custody standard currently requires that the internal auditing program of a multi-site certification includes the physical, onsite auditing of every site annually, before the external audit is conducted by an independent certification body.

This voluntary pilot project will allow participating organizations to establish and utilize their own computer assisted auditing techniques, in order to conduct the internal audits of their sites remotely.

Who can take part?

Any organization holding a valid PEFC Chain of Custody multi-site certificate, where the sites have largely homogeneous chain of custody processes, can apply to participate in this pilot project.

The producer group certifications of independent companies are not covered by this pilot project.

How to participate?

If anybody is interested, PEFC is inviting them to participate and before that they are requesting to complete online registration form and to provide PEFC’s complete information like:

•    Confirmation of willing to participate in the project in accordance with the pilot paper
•    Description of the individual’s chain of custody system, including a detailed description of the multi-site structure (sites involved, operations carried out by the sites, etc.);
•    Confirmation of the agreement with the certification body, showing the willingness of the CB to provide two reports on the pilot project to PEFC International, and to communicate the pilot project with its accreditation body, in line with the pilot paper.

There will be an administration fee of 500 CHF for all organizations chosen to take part in the pilot project. The fee must be paid to the PEFC Secretariat before the start of the pilot can be confirmed.
