Mosca

Mosca GmbH from Waldbrunn will be presenting a range of innovative solutions focused on enhanced digitalisation and automation for secure transportation of building materials at the upcoming LIGNA 2025. Recognising the diverse strapping needs within the timber industry, Mosca has developed tailored solutions designed specifically for different dimensions, weights, and sensitivities of materials.

Advanced Strapping Solutions for Every Need

The timber industry’s strapping requirements vary widely—from small, delicate timber products to massive loads weighing several tonnes. Addressing this range, Mosca will showcase three specialised strapping machines: the robust KOV-111, the compact SoniXs MP-6 T, and the versatile SoniXs M-RI.

KOV-111: Heavy-Duty Protection with Advanced Features

Mosca’s KOV-111 strapping machine will debut at LIGNA with significant enhancements, including a newly introduced angular edge protector feeder and a reliable squared timber feeder. Specifically designed for securing heavy and sensitive materials like those used in furniture production, these features ensure maximum protection during transportation.

“The angular edge protector feeder supports all standard sizes, storing up to 250 protective boards—enough for an entire shift, reducing downtime due to refilling,” explains Sandra Andelic, Industry Manager for Building Materials at Mosca GmbH. The system automatically notifies operators when edge protector supplies run low, enhancing operational efficiency.

Before strapping, the angular edge protector positions securely against timber stacks, while the squared timber feeder slides underneath, acting effectively as a pallet. This unique design ensures precise strapping without damaging the materials, facilitating easy transport using forklifts or stackers. Engineered for high-throughput lines, the KOV-111 manages up to three secure strappings per minute.

SoniXs MP-6 T: Compact Precision for Narrow Materials

Also showcased will be the SoniXs MP-6 T wooden version, specifically engineered for strapping small, narrow wooden components. The machine offers easy access from both sides and is equipped with hold-down devices and side levellers, ensuring precise and secure strapping even for products as narrow as 65 millimetres.

“Users appreciate the flexibility provided by ultrasonic strapping technology, enabling immediate handling without cooldown periods,” highlights Andelic. The SoniXs MP-6 T can be manually operated or integrated seamlessly into fully automated lines, thanks to customisable interface options. The device’s maintenance-friendly design, featuring an easily opened table plate, reduces downtime significantly.

SoniXs M-RI: Specialist for Bulky, Unwieldy Loads

The third product presented by Mosca, the SoniXs M-RI, addresses the challenges of strapping particularly bulky and elongated items such as guttering, pipes, hoses, wooden slats, and beams. Its innovative ring-shaped frame delivers 18 secure strappings per minute, significantly boosting productivity in automated processing lines.

A significant improvement in the current SoniXs M-RI model is its compact design, achieved by integrating the formerly external control cabinet into the machine. “We offer flexible placement of the belt dispenser on either side, depending on the available workspace and workflow,” says Andelic. Additionally, an overhead version is available, catering specifically to systems with chain conveyors.

The SoniXs M-RI efficiently handles both PP and PET straps, with PET straps recommended for heavier products. Enhanced digital capabilities, including Mosca’s optional Digital package, allow users to remotely monitor machine performance via smartphones or tablets, further improving operational transparency and ease of maintenance.

Customer-Centric Approach

At LIGNA 2025, Mosca aims to engage directly with customers, focusing on understanding their evolving needs, especially regarding automation solutions. “Our priority is continually refining automation to deliver practical and efficient solutions that genuinely meet industry demands,” asserts Andelic.

By offering customisable, digitally integrated strapping solutions, Mosca reinforces its commitment to providing timber and building material industries with secure, efficient, and innovative transport solutions, setting new standards for productivity and operational excellence.
