Sustainability is an important concern for the young business owners nowadays. Mila Muller is among the one. For that specific reason, she uses selected materials from European forests: PEFC-certified poplar plywood is lightweight and environmentally friendly, as it grows back quickly to establish beautiful custom cabinets.
“In my designs, the core of the wood remains visible. This creates a unique look,” says Muller. The durable HPL coating is also a sustainable and hygienic alternative to paint. Sustainability also means that STORY customers can enjoy their furniture for life.” Muller added further.
Mila Muller founded the company STORY Design Amsterdam after working as a freelance editor for Dutch television. Their furniture is characterised by clean and refined aesthetics, where craftsmanship and precision are at the center – values that have led them to Lamello. For its design concept, Muller was looking for a system with refined and simple workmanship. An online search led her to the innovative company Lamello via Instagram. With a strong focus on quality, precision and ease of use, Muller finds everything she needs: a range of products to assemble pieces of furniture efficiently and without visible connections.

How it started
STORY was founded by Mila, who started working based on her own needs. When she was looking for a beautiful, sustainable custom cabinet that matched her style and fit her budget, she simply couldn’t find anything that fit. Instead of compromising, Mila decided to do it herself. With the help of her father, an experienced cabinet maker, she learned the tricks of the trade. Together they built her first cabinet – the cabinet that gave birth to STORY. What started as a personal quest for functionality and aesthetics quickly grew into a passion for helping others transform their own spaces.
At STORY, designers combine traditional craftsmanship with a fresh and contemporary approach to interior design.
