MiCROTEC achieves EN 14081 certification for strength grading with Goldeneye Transverse

MiCROTEC has reached a significant milestone by obtaining EN 14081 certification in Sweden for strength grading with its Goldeneye Transverse technology. This achievement underscores the company’s dedication to precision and quality in wood processing.

Following the machine certification earlier this spring, MiCROTEC is pleased to announce the approval of the first production line for green sorting of spruce at Norra Timber. The approval was finalized at the end of October, with the inaugural certified production run taking place during the first week of November. This milestone marks a significant advancement in MiCROTEC’s partnership with Norra Timber.

The certification covers a broad range of wood types, including Swedish pine and spruce, and extends to both green and dry sorting. It applies to sawn and planed surfaces, as well as frozen and unfrozen wood, showcasing the adaptability and reliability of MiCROTEC’s technology under diverse conditions.

At the heart of this breakthrough is MiCROTEC’s innovative laser-based grading technique. The Goldeneye 901 model utilizes dot lasers for precise strength grading, eliminating the need for X-ray technology. For operations requiring enhanced grading capabilities, the Goldeneye 902 incorporates X-ray technology, while the Goldeneye 906 combines both X-ray and Viscan systems with laser technology. These advanced models can achieve higher C-classes, significantly boosting both yield and efficiency in wood processing.

A key feature of these scanners is their ability to analyze structural properties locally, enabling the optimization of boards by removing weaker sections to upgrade them into higher strength classes.

The certification applies to three models in the Goldeneye Transverse series: 901, 902, and 906, reinforcing MiCROTEC’s position as a leading provider of high-performance solutions in the wood processing industry.

Johan Oja, Technical Manager at Norra Timber Kåge, highlights the benefits of the technology:
“The ability to strength grade with the Goldeneye 900 gives us greater flexibility, especially by being able to sort already in the green mill.”

This achievement represents another step forward in MiCROTEC’s mission to deliver innovative, reliable, and efficient solutions to the global wood processing market.
