LIGNA.21 under new- normal complex situation

LIGNA 2021, the ‘mecca’ of woodworking and manufacturing industry, on a recent webinar mentioned that they will take special measures to ensure utmost health safety and absolute hygienic event environment for the exhibitors of the show. They have put forward special guidelines and regulations to manage event under the new- normal complex situation.


LIGNA.21 with a vision to support its exhibitors in these challenging times, Christian Pfeiffer, Global Director LIGNA & Woodworking Shows for Deutsche Messe (Hannover, Germany) presented an update on LIGNA.21 by shedding light on how will the current regulations impact the event, followed by ways in which regulations will influence the exhibitor’s stand planning coupled with brief on what all will be allowed or made possible under the new normal complex environment, such as meeting, stand parties, catering, etc. Among the top participants of the upcoming show, as displayed included brands like BIESSE, Homag, Festool, Felder, Kuper, Jowat, Bacci, Weining, Leitz,Burkle, Schuler, SCM, Siempelkamp, Vollmer, Weinmann etc.

Exhibition programme as detailed in the webinar on What’s LIGNA going to be like in the “new normal”? and discussed what trade shows can look like under Covid-19 conditions, to help exhibitors plan for their participation displayed the plan that they have modified the programmes and included new options, such as Technology will be Surface Technology and Sawmill Technology this year, rest exhibition programmes are, Tools and Machinery for Custom and Mass Production, Wood Based Panel Production, Machine Components and Automation Technology, Energy from Wood and Machinery for Forestry, Roundwood and Sawtimber Production.


Introducing the focus topics of LIGNA.21, Woodworking Transformation, Green Material Processing and Prefab Building Processes he stated that LIGNA.21 will be the first trade fairs in the woodworking and wood processing sector to adapt to a live platform and present a hybrid event in 2021. Followed by LIGNA other events will be organised by Deutsche Messe and he announced the new dates of Domotex 2021, that is rescheduled on May 20 to 22 from January. Pfeiffer also spoke on other updates on early booking discount and facilities to be provided by the organisers, and reminded once again on postponement of the 1st Rosenheim LIGNA conference to 2022 due to the uncertain virus threats.

Under the Motto More Safety for More Business the speaker enlightened on how the regulations of the state will impact LIGNA. In accordance with Lower Saxony’s Corona VO, the state of Lower Saxony, in cooperation with the local health and infection protection authority of the Hannover region, has issued guidelines on how trade fairs and specialist congresses may be implemented at the Hannover exhibition centre in future. The organiser spoke on the highest possible standards of hygiene, safety and medical care for the exhibitors and visitors. This is because, for Deutsche Messe, doing business and protecting people’s health go hand in hand. He stated that the exhibition centre in Hannover has an excellent infrastructure and guarantees the highest standards of hygiene. Cleaning intervals throughout the entire grounds are being increased.

Disinfection dispensers will be placed at the entrance areas, and ensuring sufficient fresh air through ventilation, such as the lounge this year will not have the roof and stand parties will not be allowed to maintain social distancing. Tickets sales from online and participants contact tracking will be maintained. Under present regulations the number of visitor is limited to 1 person per 4 m², entrance will be as contactless as possible, notices with COVID-19 behaviour guidelines will be posted. Stand planning will be unique and COVID-19 rental floor plans with mandatory aisles, which should be widened to 6.0m instead of 4.0, 3.0 wide aisles will now, become 4.50m wide, followed by Catalogue of measures for protection against infection.


For visitor safety and success, LIGNA 2021 will thus be staged under a comprehensive umbrella of special precautions with required hygienic and infection prevention measures.
