LIGNA 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for the woodworking and wood processing industry, is on track to be one of the most successful editions in its history. With 1,423 exhibitors already confirmed, participation has surpassed the 1,288 exhibitors of 2023. Despite global economic challenges, exhibitor enthusiasm remains strong, with 113,500 square meters of exhibition space already booked, closely matching the previous event’s total of 113,937 square meters.

“LIGNA’s 50th anniversary is shaping up to be an extraordinary milestone for the industry,” said Stephanie Wagner, Head of LIGNA at Deutsche Messe. “The strong exhibitor response demonstrates the industry’s resilience, adaptability, and commitment to innovation. We are confident this edition will inspire professionals across the woodworking sector and drive new investments.”

LIGNA 2025 is expected to attract a diverse audience, from industrial manufacturers and skilled tradespeople to investors and sustainability advocates. The event will showcase the latest advancements in automation, digitalization, and sustainable material use, reinforcing LIGNA’s position as the global hub for woodworking innovation.

New Features: LIGNA.TruckStop and LIGNA.Circular

LIGNA.TruckStop: Hands-On Demonstrations from Industry Leaders

A major highlight of this year’s event is LIGNA.TruckStop, a brand-new interactive outdoor showcase located near Hall 12. This area is designed to provide hands-on experiences with the latest woodworking tools, fastening technologies, and machinery directly from exhibition trucks. Five leading companies have already confirmed their participation, including Festool, Hettich, Makita, SawStop, and Swiss Krono.

Kathrin Jacobi, Project Manager at Hettich, shared her enthusiasm:
“At Hettich, customer centricity is key. Our ‘Hettich on Tour’ roadshow, which spans the DACH and Benelux regions, will make its debut at LIGNA 2025 as part of LIGNA.TruckStop. We are excited to engage with industry professionals in this dynamic format.”

SawStop will be demonstrating its AIM (Active Injury Mitigation) safety technology, while Swiss Krono will focus on sustainable engineered wood materials. In addition to product showcases, the LIGNA.TruckStop stage will host expert interviews, technical discussions, and daily knowledge-sharing sessions from midday onwards. To encourage networking, a “Happy Hour” from 5 to 6 p.m. will provide attendees with a space to connect, exchange ideas, and build new business relationships.

LIGNA.Circular: The Future of Sustainable Woodworking

Another key addition to LIGNA 2025 is LIGNA.Circular, a new initiative centered around circular economy solutions in the woodworking industry. This program, located in Hall 12, will explore sustainable innovations in processes, materials, and product development.

The format includes six themed islands showcasing different aspects of circular value creation, with expert partners such as Dieffenbacher, Fraunhofer WKI, and VHI contributing insights. Discussions will cover essential topics such as material flows, recycling strategies, and sustainable production practices.

Dr. Andreas Schütte, Managing Director at Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e. V., emphasized the significance of this initiative:
“At LIGNA.Circular, we will focus on ‘Material Flows of Wood’—highlighting developments in the supply and efficient use of wood within the circular economy. It is crucial to emphasize research activities that ensure sustainable utilization of resources in the future.”

The Timber Construction Research Center and the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM) will also showcase current best practices, emphasizing circularity in engineered wood products and energy-efficient renovation strategies.

Andreas Wiemers, Head of Sales Specialist Trade at hagebau Holzhandel, underlined the importance of industry-wide collaboration for sustainability:
“We firmly believe that the future of construction is circular. As part of LIGNA.Circular, we are committed to helping professionals navigate the transition to sustainable building and woodworking practices.”

A Defining Event for the Woodworking Industry

With a record-breaking number of exhibitors, hands-on demonstrations, and a strong focus on sustainability, LIGNA 2025 is set to be a landmark event for the global woodworking and wood processing community. The trade fair will not only provide a platform for the latest technological advancements but also serve as a catalyst for innovation, sustainability, and industry-wide transformation.
