With a newly developed cassette system, IMA Schelling is making the storage of thin laminates much easier. They can be stored sorted in transport cassettes, and the cassettes can also be stacked in area storage. This saves valuable storage space and makes transporting the laminate panels much faster.
In conventional area storage, the stacking heights of the 0.5 to 2 mm thick thin laminates are limited due to their physical properties. In addition, each type requires its own storage space, which means that the area is not used efficiently. The laminates can be stored up to 50mm high in the newly developed cassettes.
Stack higher and use storage more efficiently
The storage of the laminates is fully automated. The gantry car with suction grippers distributes the delivered panels sorted into the cassettes at a suitable point in the storage area and stacks them on top of each other in the storage locations. The loaded cassettes can be stacked up to a height of 2,000 mm. In this way, the storage area is used much more efficiently. Since the sorting, pre-picking and storage does not require a system operator, it can also be done at times when the cutting system is idle. During storage and removal, sensors in the suction traverse check the thickness of the laminate panels. This ensures that exactly the desired number of panels is moved. Transporting the laminates in cassettes increases efficiency, since not every panel is
Fully automatic to the saw
The parameters of each stored panel are stored in the logistics system. From the storage locations, the saw can be loaded directly, quickly and fully automatically for cutting. Likewise, customer orders for raw panels can be outsourced easily and quickly, regardless of whether they are single-variety or so-called “colorful stacks” made of different materials.
Can be adapted to existing area storage
Converting an area storage system to the new cassette system requires little technical effort. The cassettes are made of aluminum profiles and weigh 86 kg when empty. In order to be able to pick them up and move them, the suction traverse is modified. The load capacity of the cassette is 250 kg. The gantry transports the cassettes via the mobile beam and bridge over the full area across storage widths of up to 22 meters and storage lengths of up to 100 meters and more if required.
