Koskisen introduces the first load-calculating smart panel for the trailer and cargo industry. Powered by IoT and cloud capabilities, the all new SENSi Panel by Koskisen is especially curated to optimise fleet utilisation with real-time data. Koskisens’ new invention has sustainability and cost efficiency at its core.

The smart SENSi panels gather data which helps to optimise cargo logistics in an unprecedented way. This has been a one-of-a-kind, revolutionary discovery for logistics since most of the cargo trucks had been carrying half the load of their capacity. There has never been accurate data available about the freight itself. How much freight is on board, whether it is firmly secured, etc. Koskisen’s intelligent SENSi panels are now permanently changing this.

Optimising fleet utilisation

Transport capacity could be employed much more profitably and sustainably when information about the load and its placement is now available with SENSi. Logistics firms can optimise the size of their fleet and staff as well as the general expenditures associated with them, such as taxes, insurance, etc., by minimising idle capabilities. Increasing capacity is also good for the environment since the number of trucks on the road will decrease resulting in lower emissions and fuel expenses.

“If on an annual level a company handles approximately a thousand transports and SENSi can help increase the capacity by even an average of 20 per cent, the financial benefit is already significant”, says R&D Team member Andreas Strauch from Koskisen.

The ETA may be predicted more precisely when freight data and GPS position data are combined for road freight transport, which allows for tracking similar to that of mail items. All of this is made feasible by the cloud-based storage of real-time data on freight loading, transportation, and unloading. The data is also accessible to the truck drivers: They may easily stay informed about the status of the freight thanks to the SENSi application.

Simple principles underlie at the heart of this application – SENSi panels. Smart pressure sensors are placed within each plywood floor panel. They provide information on how much empty space there is in the trailer and whether there is any weight on the panel. Following storage on the cloud, the data is accessible in real-time by telematic systems, freight platforms, and logistics planning tools that are considered industry standards.
