Wood products specialist Koskisen is strengthening its Kore business with an investment of approximately EUR 3 million, aimed at expanding operations and enhancing production capabilities for interior solutions in light commercial vehicles. The investment will primarily support the acquisition of advanced CNC machines and essential production equipment. A new production unit will be established in Skwierzyna, Poland, where Koskisen has secured a long-term lease on a completed facility, including a purchase option for future ownership.
“Expanding the Kore business is one of the growth paths of our recently updated strategy and aims at Kore’s profitable growth through new products and customers,” says Tom-Peter Helenius, Director, Panel Industry.
With the new production unit, the production facilities of the Kore business will grow from the current 3,000 m2 to 8,000 m2. The new facilities enable scaling of production capacity to more than double. The investment supports the expansion of Kore’s product range into new end-uses and the expansion of the current market area.
The investment in the new production unit is backed by strong market trends. Rising logistics volumes, rapid growth in e-commerce deliveries, and the shift toward electrification are all fueling increased demand for light commercial vehicles—and, in turn, for the wood panels and interior solutions used in their equipment and customization.
“The investment will clearly improve Kore’s competitiveness and ability to add value to our customers, and at the same time it will become a significant player in its main market area in Europe,” says Jori Silfverberg, Director, the Kore business.
Kore products, which include floor and lining components, wheel arches and accessories for light commercial vehicles, are manufactured according to customer requirements from plywood and other materials.
Koskisen started producing interior solutions for light commercial vehicles under the Kore brand in Toporów, Poland, in 2010. The production unit currently employs about 70 people. The personnel requirement for the new unit to be established in Skwierzyna is approximately 30–40 employees. The Kore business is part of the Panel Industry segment.
Why choose Koskisen?
Finnish forests have valuable treasures to offer the world. Koskien strives to meet the demand generated by changing consumption choices with their constant quality products. The market for their products is large and ever growing, driven by the green transition, urbanisation as well as the development of commerce and transport. By and large, the situation is such that there is demand for whatever we produce.
“This is our strategy. We have what it takes and we have an excellent chance of success as long as both the forest and people continue to be our partners. This is how we proceed in a wood-wise way towards renewable societies.” – Koskisen.
The company always takes bold steps towards sustainable growth and a circular boeconomy.
