Kahrs

Kahrs is unwavering in its mission to find more sustainable ways to operate and has committed to net Zero emissions by 2040. Already for many years now, Kahrs has been utilising biofuel to heat our wood flooring plants. Transforming the internal transportation to become fossil free as well seeking to change to green electricity when possible have also been areas in focus. All in all, Kahrs is closer to the target to become net Zero and become more sustainable than ever.

Internal transportation
Kahrs operations in Sweden committed to the objective of using electricity, HVO, or biogas for all internal mobility, in 2017. Five years later in 2022, the goal was accomplished and the production facilities in Nybro and Blomstermala, Sweden, either run on fossil-free fuel or have switched to electric vehicles for internal transportation. The other production facilities are likewise in the process of switching to more environmentally friendly vehicles and fuels.

Green electricity and heating
Purchasing certified green electricity or the finest combination available at each location is a goal shared by all of Kahrs’ operating bases. Green electricity is the preferred option that the corporation aims to employ when it becomes available, and supply alternatives are being monitored. Currently, all Kahrs locations in Finland and their production and warehouse facilities in Sweden and Romania run entirely on renewable energy. In Sweden, Romania, Finland, and Poland, their manufacturing and storage facilities are heated by bioenergy.

Kährs Group’s focus is on sustainability and environmental initiatives, and the company as a whole is characterised by a sustainability approach. This is another reason why Kahrs wants to adjust to the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG). Greener transportation is a vital component of the organisation’s commitment to reducing their activities’ impact on the climate because “Climate action” is one of the UN SDGs that is of major concern to the organisation.
