Jowat celebrates solution oriented partnership

With the vision to achieve goals together Jowat celebrates solutions oriented partnership with laminate manufacturers Dahinden Sägewerk AG. The Swiss company Dahinden Sägewerk AG uses adhesive solutions from Jowat for its laminated timber. What started as a small sawmill in 1898 in Hellbühl is now a successful family-owned enterprise with innovative solutions in woodbased materials and in energy. “We offer our customers—whether carpenter or timber construction specialist—sophisticated tailormade services with products made of 100% Swiss lumber,” says Pius Stadelmann, head of Refining, summarizing the main performance area of Dahinden. Products from the family-owned company are primarily used in modular construction and wood-based construction. “The heart of our operation is a highly efficient sawmill that enables us to offer mass-produced as well as one-off goods.”

All in the glue

The product portfolio of Dahinden provides sawn lumber products such as round logs, stakes, and pallet boards as well as a large selection of construction materials including laminated and solid structural timber. The traditional operation counts on Jowat in the manufacture of these glued laminated timber products, and specifically on a single-component PUR prepolymer adhesive from the Jowapur® line. Andreas Weymann, head of Global Product Management at Jowat SE, explains what interests the customer in particular. “When bonding several layers, it is important that the end product stays together securely and that all static requirements in the supporting timber are thus met.”

Jowapur® 681.xx is characterized by a special fiber reinforcement which simplifies processing. In addition, the ready-to-use, one-component formulation is free of formaldehyde and solvents and helps protect the health and safety of employees. The high-performance adhesive being completely free of these additives pays tribute to the aspect of sustainability, which is of great importance to the regionally rooted wood processing company. What Pius Stadelmann also extols is the diverse Jowapur® 681.xx portfolio, which facilitates a wide range of process speeds depending on the formulation. “The different pressing times provide an optimum product for each individual case and are an outstanding match to our processes.”
